Hi! I’m 31 weeks pregnant and I want to start preparing my husband for birth. Examples, how to assist me during birth, basic home birth knowledge, how to help me through postpartum. Any good videos or links that yall had your husband watch/read?
My husband told me today that his biggest advice for anyone choosing a home birth (we’re going on our third this month), is to make sure the husband is involved and the wife lets him be involved. I’m very resistant to touch when I’m in pain so I was very reclusive except for counter pressure with my first. I got many more hugs and cuddles and touches with my second and it went faster.
From my point of view, the husband can help the best with counter pressure on the hips and the spot right above the tail bone, Hugs and kisses to boost oxytocin, help you move around to help baby descend, help keep you hydrated and fed for energy, and most importantly don’t ask “what do I have to do” every time. When mom is in pain she doesn’t want to think FOR him too
@Hannah I’m in that group too! I highly recommend it
Do you have a doula? My doula has been super helpful with helping to prepare my husband.
