Gifting Evil Eye

I am after some advice - I am not religious - my friend is a Turkish Muslim, and is about to have her second baby. We have gotten very close and I am planning on getting her a few gifts when I next see her to so congratulations. I wanted to gift her an evil eye protector as I know they bring protection and good luck. But I don’t know if it needs to be blessed first, or if receiving it from a non religious person would be insulting.. I just don’t want to get it wrong. If anyone who is religious and knows about the evil eye is willing to give me some advice I would really appreciate it!

What’s an evil eye protector? Please don’t gift anything like this because Muslims believe it’s shirk(sin). I know Turkish people wear those blue and white nazar amulets, is that what you’re on about?

Really lovely of you to think of what would be a good gift and to be so careful in going about it too. You sound like an amazing friend! I'd also advise against it as many Muslims are against things like that and instead pray for / over their child as protection. If you want to get something religiously linked (like a baby prayer mat!) I can give some ideas if you like! I'm sure she wouldn't find it offensive rather really thoughtful and considerate x

@Yasmin yes that’s what I’m on about, it’s big in Turkish culture

@Hafiza it is big in her culture, might be more of a family thing for her. But they all have one & she collects them. Her son has one for protection too. But Thankyou for the advice and I’d love some ideas please Thankyou so much x

Of course! I'd say a baby prayer mat, baby's name in Arabic calligraphy, there's dua pillows (look online on desi doll / quran cube website). Some of these things can be quite pricey so a cute book is also really nice. We were gifted one on 'baby's first quran stories' that our baby loves flicking through. You can find them on amazon or on muslim online book shops let me know if you want any more help feel free to msg x

@Hafiza Thankyou so much for all of those ideas 🥰🥰
