tattoo whilst breastfeeding
hoping someone can help here. so i am breastfeeding my almost 20 month old but would like to get a tattoo. by breastfeeding i mean i barely produce any milk bc of the pill and its mostly for comfort alongside 2 bottles of other milk. online it says to talk to a health professional doctor or midwife however i have spoken to my sister who has worked specifically in breastfeeding support and is a midwife and she says shes never heard anything about it and wouldn’t bother contacting a doctor because all at my surgery have given terrible advice on breastfeeding and i can’t trust them with anything breastfeeding due to the lack of training. has anyone got a tattoo whilst breastfeeding or had many artists say no to tattooing you whilst breastfeeding? is there a high risk to baby getting a tattoo whilst breastfeeding? TIA! x

Most, if not all, reputable tattoo artists will not tattoo someone if they know they are breastfeeding. I got denied both tattoos and piercings while breastfeeding my daughter. I suggest talking to your tattoo artist and see how they feel about it. Also Most doctors won't recommend either.
I think it's to do with the risks of infection, rather than the actual tattoo itself
Most reputable tattooists who care about their clients rather than money, won’t tattoo you if you’re breastfeeding. My tattooist said no due to risk of infection etc when I was breastfeeding x
Yeah, no tattooing while breastfeeding. My tattoo artist refused to do it.
