My girl this past week (she’s 5.5 months) has struggled falling asleep at nap time. I’ve found she wants me there but not to be held so I lay with her on the sofa or my bed and she’s had a good sleep. Usually she would only do contact naps x
This shows he is ready to drop the evening nap and go to bed earlier apparently. We are trying this but not working so far 😂
@Emily how long are you naps!? That a looong day from 6.30pm to 10pm with only 2 naps 😱
@Kati I'll either get 1 long one that's about 2hrs or so (contact usually) and then about 20/30 mins. But if she refuses. It's just a quick 10 min max here and there. It is so hard when she doesn't take naps. As she's over tired and is fussing a lot. She's got into a habbit atm where it's a quick sleep in the morning and then nothing at all in the afternoon until about 5ish when my o/h finishes work and she'll have a nap then
@Emily oh wow, mine can hardly keep his eyes open beyond 2 hours. I’ve been trying to reduce his naps and lengthen the wake windows but it’s impossible, he just wants to be in bed all the time 🤦🏼♀️🤣
@Kati yeah her wake windows are between 2 and 4hrs. It's hard work but tbh I don't mind it. She's happy in herself really 🤣
@Kati yeah I’ve been thinking that he is starting to show signs of dropping the late afternoon nap but I’m just worried coz i hear of some babies doing 2 hour naps and he will do an hour and 15 minutes max but usually less and then he’s away from like 2:30pm til bedtime. His bedtime is normally 7pm but I might bring it forward to 6:30 now
I’m also trying to lengthen the first wake window so that his naps are better spaced through the day
They usually have about 12-16 hrs of sleep including the night and naps. So could just be naturally dropping naps. Mine used to have about 4 naps a day but she'll only have about 2 maybe 3 cat naps. We try and put her down about 10ish after a final feed and wakes up herself about 6.30am. She used to go to sleep about 8ish herself and then wake up at 7.30ish but her sleep pattern has shifted completely on her own and her wake periods are a lot longer. Could just be their own sleep patterns now and no doubt will change again in a couple of months
