The Plated Prisoner (dark romance/fantasy)

Yes, I picked it up because it's a King Midas retelling. It's a 6 book series and I just finished book 2 and damn it's getting good.

I won't be getting to book 3 for a while. I need to read Onyx Storm and Sunrise if the Reaping because I'm dying to be part of those conversations.

I’m on book 1 right now and it’s so good!! Maybe halfway thru Gild. You’re literally the first person that I know who’s reading it.

Avatar

I’m about to finish book two myself 😭 ready to pick up 3

Avatar

I’m in the middle of book 5. It’s a very good series!!

Avatar

I feel like it doesn’t gets talked about enough.

I finished this series recently. It’s pretty good! It definitely takes a lot of twists and turns as you go on, I felt like it was a completely different series by the end, if that makes any sense haha.

Avatar

@Amy the twists are coming, I bought the wrong book in store (couldn't for the life of be figure out what book one was since there werent numbered!) and then went online to by the rest. I'm so glad I did.

Avatar

@Janessa, im gonna say it. i hate the sixth kingdom queen and Midas as a whole they deserve each other

Avatar

I've read books 1-3 and LOVE them! Honestly I've been dragging out reading them bc I know when I finish the series I'll be a husky of a human 😂

Avatar

@Rebekah, I'm feeling it now cause I feel like there is either a plot hole right now or the twists just hit you like a brick.

Avatar

I started it but got bored halfway through 😭

Avatar

@Ashley honestly can't remember where I heard about it first. Outside of the telling circle, it's truly its own story.

Avatar

I ALMOST DNF it because the first book was indeed boring and it felt like it was dragging. But I kept seeing people say to continue reading cuz it got better and trust it does 😭😭

Avatar

That was a series that grew on me and I completely fell in love by the end.

Avatar

@Mary, I feel like that'll be me for the rest of the series. My husband just finished book 2 of the Apollo trails, so that's likely after Gleam and I have four trilogies I want to start.

Avatar

I don’t think I know a single reader whose TBR isn’t a mile long lol. If I can make it to the end of Gild, I want to read this whole series. Then maybe go back to Zodiac Academy (I did the first two books then paused cause felt like it was super slow). But also want to read Quicksilver AND Blood and Steel AND Crescent City AND The Dream Harbor Series AND Sunrise on the Reaping and I could go on and on lol

Avatar

I’m loving blood and steel! I’m almost through book 4 and it’s been a fun ride.

Avatar

you definitely have to sort of push through book 1, books 2 and 3 (and I'm assuming onwards) have so much more going on, character growth (especially from Auren), pertinent background stories, political intrigue etc. The first book really is a stage setter to all that happens beyond it. I almost dnf'ed it multiple times but I'm glad I didn't bc if I had I wouldn't have read more books in the series that make it worth it.

Avatar

Oh for sure! I didn't mean it as a suggestion for you personally, I should have worded it differently 😆 More so I meant that that's the experience I had and that many others I've talked to about the series have had as well.

Avatar

Officially on to book 2! Stayed up a little longer during our middle of the night feeding yesterday to plow thru my last two chapters lol

Avatar

Reading Gleam right now.

Avatar

@Kiah I just finished book 3, that ending was so direct. It'll be a few weeks before I get to book 4 but Im invested.

Avatar

oh awesome! I need to get back into this series, it's been almost a year since I read Gleam but I'll probably just go straight into Glow without any refresher like the chaotic reader I am 😆
