Oral thrush and feeding

Has anyone had thrush on their nipples/ baby had oral thrush and it made their baby not feed properly. I think we may have it (docs booked for later) but not sure what to do in the meantime as he isn’t feeding well. We already top up with expressed milk as he lost weight when he was born but do I just give a bit more for now? It’s also quite painful. Baby is nearly 4 weeks old

I've been dealing with oral thrush as well and struggled with baby breastfeeding. It's really hard but keep trying to put them on the breast. In this weather they'll be extra thirsty so little and often

I will say that after starting medication, my baby did lessen their fussing pretty soon

Medication from the doctor is a life saver, I got it with 2 out of my 3 kids and it helped with feeding and cleared it up so much xx

Thank you all! We have been prescribed stuff so will collect it tomorrow and fingers crossed it will help us quickly x

Hi what did they prescribe and was it available? Where are you based? Thanks

Well, that was a bit of a nightmare. For my little one they prescribed nystatin and we drove around about 8 pharmacies who all could not get it as there are supply issues. We rang 111 who told us there wasn’t really an alternative they could prescribe as baby is only little but suggested we try the local hospital so we ended up at our emergency department and they gave us a new prescription but for the same thing as the pharmacy at the hospital did have it
