@Charley yeah I'm doing purées x
It’s taken my LB over 4 weeks to now grasp what he’s doing. He’s better with purées than finger foods but he’s starting to play with it which is good. It’s a whole new skill, new taste new everything. There’s so much online about 6 month olds having basically full meals which is great for them, but actually is set me up with very unrealistic expectations. Keep trying every day, try mixing food too or a bit of Greek yogurt to dip ginger foods in My LB weirdly loves asparagus dipped in it 😂 If she isn’t interested don’t push it but maybe let her sit with the plate and she might start exploring. but keep going, you’re doing fab! Just need patience xx
@Jami just what I needed to hear!! Thank you so much! Yes I'm trying everyday but not forcing it!! Thank you so much xx
We started off with purées as my twins just could not fathom how to bring food to their mouths (everywhere else, eyes, nose ears fine just not their mouth 🙈) One of my twins did not take to purées and almost realised he needed to get the hand to mouth thing within a week he’s cracked it. We’ve started BLW with him and he is actually eating it! We are doing a 3 day introduction as both boys have a milk allergy. Day 1 doesn’t normally go down well, day 2 better day 3 he normally demolishes it so it does show that it takes them time to accept something new
Honestly it takes a while for them to get used to it and learn. Just remember it's completely new for both of you so give it time, you are doing great! I am on week 3 and every day is different sometimes she is really interested and does really well and then other days she just plays and isn't bothered but that's part of the process. Try looking into food mapping it's something I have seen a few videos about where babies map their mouths with food to get to grips with eating that may help you ☺️ xxx
Don't focus on how much she's consuming, weaning is a learning experience - it's not about the nutrition yet, that's still comes from milk. She's experiencing new textures, flavours and skills. Everything will come with time 😊 x
It's your job to offer the food. It's babies job to eat it. Don't stress. If they're not interested then try again another time x
It's a new skill they need to learn. Are you doing purées? I'd really recommend BLW if so, as it teaches them how to move food around their mouth and chew, also teaches them how small food needs to be before it can be swallowed.
