Second sleep stretch help?!

Hi! I have a 2 month old (about 9 weeks now) & she sleeps fine first stretch at night normally 4-5.5 hours (close to 6 if lucky) but lately I’ve noticed she does terrible after the first stretch. Anyone else seeing the same issue? Anyone have suggestions? Does it get better?! And by terrible I feel like she’s up every 2 hours until her wake time (before she was up for her 1-2 feeds & then sleeping until her wake time). Sometimes I gotta contact nap with her to get her to stretch to her wake up time so I get some sleep. I go back to work soon so wanting to hopefully get back into a better groove ASAP.

Following because I’m noticing the same

Same here! Last night we had the longest stretch ever (6 hours!) and then every 1.5 hours after that 😵‍💫

@Erin omg how old is yours?

@Jessica 11 weeks. Normally first stretch is 4-5 hours so we were thrilled last night lol

Yes! Need help too. Cannot get him back in his basket after that feed at the moment. Just wants to either stay latched or be upright on me. I’ve recently tried side lying feeding position so I can at least lie down but I don’t find myself able to sleep like that, it’s not very comfortable because I’m trying to keep an eye on baby and make sure my blanket isn’t anywhere near him (so I’m also freezing)

Have you considered trying a later bed time for baby? That way the stretch will be most of the night? As they start sleeping longer stretches you can bring bed time up to an earlier time.

@Melitza girlfriend can’t stay up to save her life…lol I was trying a later bedtime last night. I pushed it to 9..trying to gradually get her to 10pm. By 8:40 babygirl was dozing off which is her normal sleepy time 8-8:45

Damn. lol Honestly, I would give her a good like 30 mins and then softly wake her up. Kinda gauge it so that she’s up for like an hour before bed time routine starts. Idk every baby is so different. This is what works for me.

My baby does the same, but her first stretch is usually 6-7 hours, then wakes up every 1-2 hours after that. Her pediatrician said that how it normally is for babies till she starts sleeping through the night

@Melitza Also this is a new development…hence my confusion. She used to sleep until 6:30-7:30 after her middle of night bottle. So unsure what’s changed

@Jessica us too so odd

@Jessica the past 2 nights have been similar for us! My baby normally sleeps from 8:30pm-6:30am with 1 wake up around 2:30 to eat and that’s it, but the past 2 nights he’s woken up again at 4:30 and we were like hmm what’s happening? 🤔 I think it’s just a temporary while they’re developing a new skill!

My baby is 10 weeks old and she had a moment where she was doing the same thing but lately it started to get better. The first stretch of 7 hours, wakes up, be feed and then right back to sleep until 8-9am. The only thing that I change was her day time naps. The quality of the nap is fundamental and also to feed her pretty good throughout the day, every 2 hours. That’s what is helping me right now

@Jessica update: we upped his milk yesterday to 6.5oz each feed and he slept from 8:30pm to 5:40am with no wake up! So I think he must’ve gone through a growth spurt and was hungrier, maybe try upping babies milk a little!

@Abby i tried giving her 5 last night & she stopped at 3 😭😭 i will try again tonight

@Jessica instead of trying to just up the last bottle by a lot, add like 1oz to each bottle throughout the day! By the end of the day she’d have like 6oz more than normal in her system and will be more full! 😊 that’s what worked for us!

Ooooooo! I will try this!

Hi @Jessica, it definitely gets better! What worked for me when my little girl was 8-10 weeks was giving her a few more ounces before bedtime. For instance, if you give her 4 oz try maybe 5 or 6 oz so your baby is full, and won’t wake up to feed so often at night. Also before bedtime, try putting their swaddle in the dryer to get warm before placing it on worked great too! I had to hold her for a good 15-20 mins while she was getting sleepy before fully placing her in her bassinet. Once you place her in the bassinet or crib, leave your hand on her tummy so she thinks you’re still holding her. It sounds weird but it works! Best of luck! 😊

@Nicole thanks! Her first stretch is good. It’s the second stretch after she wakes to feed that has been rough… I also have tried the whole full idea before bed but she normally will stop at 4 ounces. Sometimes 3 if i try to give her 5 ounces. No matter how much burping I do when she starts squirming to get her to finish. She is usually ready to KO & starts to fuss because she’s ready for bed . Im going to try upping her ounces throughout the day like someone suggested

How are yall getting 6-7 hour stretches 😳 my LO sleeps for 4 at most and then 3 and 2 throughout the night 🥲

@Bri how old is your baby?

Having such rubbish sleep baby won’t go back to bed after his feed at all every time I put him down he’s back up 30min later 🥴🥴
