My little one was falling asleep at the breast and was eating super often, since he wasn't getting a full meal. I started waking him up after he fell asleep at the breast and he almost always ate for double the amount of time (or more), which resulted in longer stretches between feedings during the day (2.5-3 hours), and he's sleeping two 4 hr stretches at night now! It kind of feels mean waking him up, but I know that it's good for him in these situations, since it results in a full belly and longer stretches of uninterrupted sleep, which is good for his brain development
Following because going thru the same 😢😢😢😢
I highly recommend meeting with a lactation consultant/getting a weighted feed like Clarissa said. I know where I live there’s so many resources for free lactation services, they’re great for way more than just latching issues. I’m experiencing pretty much the same situation as you. I feel like it’s because my baby falls asleep during feedings and doesn’t get a full tummy so she’s only sleeping like 45 minutes at a time during the day. But last night I was able to get a 5-6 hour stretch of sleep which was so great
@Zoe I have an appt with lactation made for Tuesday now! Thank you all for your advice! Hoping they will be able to help me out since my little guy also seems to be pulling away from the breast too
@Clarissa my baby seems to do the same thing!
Dealing with the same!! When I wake my baby up and try continue his feeding he simply refuses and full on cries till I stop. How long is everyone’s baby generally at the breast?
Have you considered doing a weighted feed? I'd be really curious to see if he's getting full meals all those times he's eating throughout the day or just snacks. It sounds like he may be eating just enough to knock the edge off his hunger if he's getting hungry again so soon. Or maybe comfort nursing
