@Callie it’s almost like you’re talking about my little one!!!! It’s heartbreaking seeing them so tired but they either jolt themselves awake or they just fight the sleep. I just don’t know what to do! As they should be sleeping a lot more but mine has decided sleep is over rated!!
Swaddle will help x
No words of Wisdom from me unfortunately. My 5 weeks old is exactly the same. I am so exhausted and feel like I am failing him because I can’t get him to rest and settle 😢
@Helena I feel exactly the same hun. I don’t know how I’m even functioning with the lack of sleep. That’s what’s killing me honestly. They all say relax and sleep when baby does but what about when they don’t?😂 it’s sooooooo tough right now honestly
Every baby is different but both of mine I found strapping them into a carrier and going for a walk was the best thing for getting them to sleep when they were fighting it - might be worth a try?
@Tessa what about night time ? How do you manage sleeping then? Xxx
@Tessa I tried the carrier but he won’t sleep in it because as soon as I strap him in it he can smell the milk. He accepts being carried by my husband though who is unfortunately at work most of the time
My 5 week old has been the same the last few days. Yesterday she was basically awake from 10am to 9pm with only short 10min naps and she does the same thing of waking herself up suddenly. I’m not sure why she’s now such a sensitive sleeper. I actually ended up co sleeping and that seems to be the only time she’ll sleep more than 1hr if I’m right next to her. I never thought I’d be one to co sleep but I couldn’t cope with not sleeping both day and night so was desperate to try anything
My little one is 8 weeks but we went through this a few weeks ago. I think it's a growth spurt, they suddenly become a lot more alert and resist napping. It's normal but very hard! I was very sleep deprived as he'd only nap on me and he started sleeping worse at night. If you can, pull on support from others and be comforted by the fact that it will pass. My little one is now sleeping much better. You've got this!
My 5 week old is the same, since 6pm she’s only had a 30 minute nap and we’ve been trying to get her to sleep since we fed her at 8.20, she’s yawning her head off but keeps jolting herself awake as soon as she drops off! So solidarity xx
