Breastfeeding

My daughter is 8 weeks old and when she was first born I wanted to breastfeed her I tried for the 1st 2 weeks of her life and by week 3 I had stopped because it was hurting but now I want to try again with the breastfeeding however I’ve been pumping but nothings coming out, I’ve also tried putting her on the breast but she refuses. How can my breast milk come back again and how can I get her used to the breast again?

I’m not sure how to full get it back but I know if your supply had been down the best was in to do lots of skin to skin latch baby after every feed more is possible. Try hand expressing while pumping and if you are pumping try going into the toilet put the shower on as hot is possible let the steam come then start pumping sometimes the steam from the shower helps the milk come

Hi Desiree. I heard that patiently taking a skin-to-skin bath together works well. You can also do skin-to-skin bonding, for example, while lying in bed.

See a GP they can give you something to increase your supply I can't remember what it's called x

Thank you I feel like I’ve dried up completely but I definitely will give the shower a try. I did do skin to skin yesterday with her as that’s what it said to do on the internet

Domperidone

Thank you ozge I’ve done skin to skin but I’ll try doing it in the bath as well

Thank you Sarah I will see the GP

I was same, Breast feeding both but had to top up my daughter. This time he lost weight too even thou was getting more colostrum and milk this time round but still not enough for him to be exclusive. I found that there’s a few things you can try n just make it your journey - not pressure or expectations ❤️skin to skin, multi ways to do this. Put them between your bra n vest top, bare skin, in the bath and as many times of day as you can. There’s no limit or set times 💛look up foods you can eat to help increase milk flow. Mine are oats - anything with oats in, apricots, spinach, sweet potatoes 🍠 🩷warm flannels on the boob and massage to increase flow 💚hand expressing, we hand expressed before we got a portable pump. 🧡Portable pump 🧡was my life saver this time, we got the mama cozy n he got it cheaper from amazon. I felt depressed being a slave to other plug in a wall one last time n in house to be able to do it.

Someone even suggesting an cabbage 🥬 leaves on breast but I’ve not tried that one myself yet.

Check out la leche league I am sure they will have some info on this!

You can also try lactation teas to help like mamatea you can get this from Holland and Barrett’s also moringa can help with supply

@Priscilla I looked in my cupboard and realised I forgot to mention the teas. Also got mine from Holland & Barrett’s but couldn’t see hot chocolate? So now ordered it from them directly But someone has told me something about coconut; milk, water and sugars help as well
