Latching correctly on bottle

Stupid question, sometimes my baby latches fine on the bottle and then other times she’s super fussy and struggles, sounds like she takes a lot of air in because she makes so much sucking noises. But when she latches correctly there’s hardly any noise. Do I need to change bottles or just keep trying? She’s 11 days old

Which bottles do you have? I’m exploring this at the moment too. I didn’t really think about baby having a bad latch and we have loads of mam bottles. Apparently they’re the worst for babies latching onto so I read🙄🙄 I’ve tried lansinoh tests on the mam bottles as they fit and that seems better for our daughter. However, I think she needs a narrower one as I am sure she may have a lip tie. Her lip curls in when she sucks, so we tried boots own and she latched loads better. Ordered a dr brown narrow one to trial which arrives tomorrow. I do wonder if their mouths are just really small at this age but you can google the bottles you have and correct latch to see

@Mollie I’ve got dr brown wide neck (only because I’ve got LOADS from my previous daughter) so didn’t wanna spend loads again on different bottles. I agree with you, is it just them having tiny mouths so far that it’s just not 100% correct yet. I don’t like the MAM bottles only because of the 101 bits to wash 🤣🙈 haven’t looked into the narrow neck dr browns, I just assumed they would be the same, and it was only the bottle shape that was different. Yes her lips curl in some times but not always, and it’s not always a bad match just every now and again, and then it seems a bit of a fight for her to get a good latch. I’ll have a watch of that video. I’ve got health visitor coming next week so I’ll ask them and see what they say. It’s a minefield with bottles and tests. My first daughter didn’t get on with MAM at all, knowing my luck this one will be much better on them lol!

My LO stopped latching on my breast after having mam bottles. I swapped for Phillips Avent and they are the best thing. I would strongly recommend to try

@Aliona thank you, I’ll grab one and see if there’s any improvement
