Thank you!! 💕 So I’ve just started with the electric in the hospital which seems to be getting some beads of colostrum on the right side which is the most I’ve gotten so far, so that’s something! Just going to keep going with that every three hours and then try her when I’m with her etc! Did you manage to get your milk in ok?
Congratulations, she's beautiful ❤️ I had a C-section with my last baby and the first week was a bit of hard work to get her to latch and for my supply to be established. But we got there! Keep that baby on you as much as you can when she's out of NICU, do as much skin to skin as possible. Try and get baby to latch and feed her yourself first then give formula and try to pump. My supply was established after just over a week. Keep persevering, don't let people discourage you. C-Sections can make feeding hard and then you have the extra challenge of the NICU but you can do it ❤️ you and baby girl are learning a brand new skill for you both together. Wishing you all the best ❤️
Congratulations! 😌 I just had a baby on 2nd of May, second time Mum. Milk doesn’t tend to come in straight away up to day 5 postpartum. I combi feed, just make sure you either pump often or let baby latch on you in between feeding formula and your milk should come in soon. Good luck!
My milk was leaking crazily before I had my baby, I never had any issues and had a section with my first, my proper milk was definitely in by day 4 (and about too Friday with my second). I did however have issues matching on my left breast, and ended up with mastitis, so make sure you are pumping both as much as possible! (My baby was on nicu for 8 nights with horrible jaundice so I understand how hard it is trying to feed around this too!). The nurses recommended breast feeding, then topping up with 40ml of formula
Thanks so much all for your lovely comments and advice! Had a couple 3 hourly pumping sessions last night and I’m now producing the colostrum I couldn’t get before birth so feeling more hopefully about my supply! 🥰 x
I had a C-section and it took 7 days for my milk to come in. I was triple feeding for the first 3 weeks. It was exhausting but worth it. Now we exclusively breastfeed and it’s the best and easiest thing. It was well worth the initial pain and struggle. Keep at it it gets so much better after 3 weeks. Then baby learns to eat faster as time goes on.
I had to substitute for a few days, I pumped to help with my supple and I got a Medela nippple shield to help with the latch which helped, and after a month of using that I weaned him off the nipple shield 😊 he's 18months in two days and still breastfeeding 🥰
Breast feeding was so challenging for me for the first 2 months toe curling pain but we worked through some latch issues, and we did it. For me I found the hospital advice to be inconsistent and I was so thankful I had attended some classes with my lactation consultant. Finding one you like is important, and someone that will support your journey. Mine did hospital and home visits that was really nice. Also attending the la leche league meetings is also really great wealth of knowledge from other mom’s and when I attended there was usually multiple lactation consultant’s there. (It’s free) I also had a few walks down the formula aisle a time or two when I was feeling nutty. That straightened me out pretty quickly. It also made me realize hiring my consultant and breastfeeding was still way cheaper than formula in the long run. Also kellymom.com is a hero for breastfeeding moms it’s like the google of breastfeeding. I made it a little over 5 years! 😱🤪🙃🤣
Also when you put the baby on to nurse don’t wait until she super hungry try to get her on before. Once they are fussy and mad it’s harder especially since she is used to a fast flow… I have heard that is one of the biggest obstacles even for mom’s that do both bottle and nursing the babies get use to the faster flow and they get annoyed having to work so hard for breastmilk. So know that a little bit fussier baby maybe common going back to nursing on you vs holding her with a bottle. It’s especially hard for people that have always done or been around formula to watch or understand. So if you have guest or in-laws you may want to have some privacy while nursing.(if you think they won’t be a supportive member) it also can just avoid the stress. It’s a journey you can do it!
Congratulations on ur newborn and i hope you recover fast also try eating dates, dry figs or fresh if available and some nuts for breast milk to come i did this and my milk flow was incredible even midwifes told me firat time we see thia much what did u do
Congratulations!! 🩷 Keep trying before every bottle to get baby to latch and suck as if not it may not come in, unless you’re pumping after you’ve fed her? My hospital gave me a hand held pump when I was in could be worth an ask?
