Sleep help please !

Please help .. one tired and at a wits end mama here! My little boy is a nightmare sleeper. As a baby he was fab but for months he has been waking up 2-3 times a night and screaming the house down until he gets a bottle. He’s now taken to waking up at 5am aswell 😭 His ‘normal’ routine 6/7am wake up 9.30 - 11 nap 11.45 lunch 2.45 ish nap till 4 Dinner 4.30 Bath 6 Bed 7 asleep for 7.30 We then seem to wake at 11, 1 and then screaming the house down at 3 for milk 😭 Any ideas?

What do you do when he wakes up at 11 and 1? We used to have almost identical routine, but had to wean off of milk at night and it stopped temporarily. The only thing I can guess from your routine is maybe too much daytime napping, our boy’s first nap is not until 10am, and I try to not make it more than 45mins, max 1 hour.

I’m no expert but I’d say too much day time sleep and perhaps sleeping too late after nap 2 before bedtime. My little girl has 15 mins in the morning and 1.5 hours (ish) in the afternoon but is always awake by 3pm. She goes to bed around 7pm. I’m currently contemplating a switch to just one nap as she is sometimes taking longer to go off at bedtime but I haven’t done it yet. Check out nights with Nat. She’s a sleep consultant, is amazing and will help guide you!! Xx

It’s still normal for a 1 year old to wake up in the night. My little girl wakes up too once or twice for a milk feed :)

My little girl wakes up between 5 and 6 most mornings. She goes down for a nap at 9 - wakes up latest 10:15 and then goes down for her next nap at 2 latest but I will wake her up at 3pm for bedtime at 7pm latest. I find if she sleeps too late on her second nap shes a nightmare for bed or wakes up in the night because she hasn’t built up enough sleep pressure. We’ve stuck to this routine for nearly 2 months and she’s slept through minus the odd day. Maybe because your little boy is sleeping too late on his second nap he’s not building enough sleep pressure to be able to sleep through? If he wakes up at 7am could you try him on a 1 nap? I’m going to attempt a 1 nap, she only has 1 nap at nursery so im going to see if me doing 1 nap helps her to sleep in longer

It might be a regression, my boy was 1 on the 5th of March and having some days with 1 nap and some days with 2 and no matter the sleep he’s taking 1-1.5hrs to sleep at night and waking up earlier and earlier. We’re quite used to this since he has had all the sleep regressions in the book since he was born and more, its usually like this for a couple of weeks (2-6 weeks) when he’s learning something new, development, teething, etc. We’ve been through 6 - 7 sleep regressions since he was born, sometimes waking up every 90 min through the entire night, we’ve tried EVERYTHING and for us it has always been a case of waiting for it to pass, but at this point looking at your routine I’d try to make the wake windows a bit longer, especially the one before bedtime.

Hey 👋 I feel your pain!! I would agree about day time sleep maybe it's a bit too much. Or You could try just one long nap so push it back to around 11-2ish so he's still getting the same amount of sleep, just at a different time. But also I would give him dinner a bit later.. and with things that are slow releasing so it keeps him fuller for longer? The morning wake ups at 5 are a killer my son also started this last week. I've just ordered a black out blond. I'm hoping that helps lol Good luck xx

@Nadia hope you don’t mind me asking - but please let us know the results of the black out blind! Also considering this! X
