I agree it’s early. He goes to bed about 6:30/7pm and gets up about 6:30/7am. I do also think it’s early, but if I keep him up it gets to about 11am and he is not a very good mood and is visibly tired, falls asleep for a nap in about 5 minutes, I’ve often tried going out about that time and he’ll just fall asleep in the car. He goes to nursery on a Tuesday and there he naps about 12-1:30, still the same at night time though.
Just very new for me because he’s always been a brilliant sleeper, slept through the night from about 2 months old until the last 2-3 months, he had one whole week about a month ago where he slept 7-7 again and then stopped, we did nothing different, so it’s very confusing.
My daughter goes to bed at 7:15, she probably falls asleep by 7:30 (she goes down on her own) and sleeps till 8:30. Nap at 12:15-2. Sometimes she has a shorter nap but no later than 2. X
6.45pm-7pm bedtime sleeps through the night. Usually wake between 6am and 6.30am but if she doesn't wake i wake her latest 6.30am. Nap is 1145-12pm until 1.30pm latest. This has been our routine for so long now, timings seem to work for her. But cannot let her sleep longer than 1.5hrs during the day as she will wake in thr night. I'd try slowly pushing that nap to midday, he may be getting overtired which can cause night wakes
I'd try stretching to at least 11-11.30 as a minimum. My little girl gets noticeabley tired, some days earlier than others but I keep to the routine and mix up the activity or get some new toys out just to stretch her a bit longer and she copes absolutely fine, and we don't move her whole day forward by too much that way.
My son slept through the night, never capped his naps he’s still the same now. My daughter wakes about 4-5 times still, I went to cap her naps but she just ends up overtired I honestly don’t see the point
Our lb's routine is very simular to this below but does change when he's teething, Ill or we have an event we go to. 6am wake 6.30-7.30am Breakfast/nappy/clothing change. 7.30-8.30am screen time 8.30 - 10am play. 10am snack 10.30 wind down with books or cuddles. Nap 11am to 1/1.30pm 1.45pm-2.30 lunch 2.30-3.30screen time 3.30pm-4.30pm play 4.30-5.15 dinner 5.15 pj's / bath (if bath night) 5.30/6pm bed We try cut screen time off at least 1 hour before bed. I've tried to stop screen time all together in the afternoon too but sometimes I do need that little break myself. If its warm outside, we'll try to go onto the garden for 1-2hrs in the afternoon or at least a walk outside. I also have a 3 year old and due another baby any day now.
Thanks guys, I honestly have tried pushing the nap later and after the 4th tantrum I tend to just give in🤣 I try distracting him by building a track for his cars for example but his patience is so thin by that point because he’s tired that he just gets frustrated and ends up throwing them around. He does have a later nap at nursery - still wakes up in the night - but I’ll try a week of later naps and see if that makes a difference
@Kimberley yeah sometimes I have to wake him up on a Monday because he does half a day in nursery and he has to have lunch before he goes and oh my god, he is not happy to be woken up 🤣
@Alicia the only way we managed to push it later was over a course of a week I made sure we were out somewhere she couldnt fall asleep eg looking at books in the library, a fun class, or in a high chair at M&S for example, and then she would fall asleep in the car. It really helped and then she adjusted to staying awake longer x
My boy goes to bed at 7pm and sleeps through to around 6:30am. A big difference for us was capping his day time nap to around 1hr-1.5hrs. I noticed too much day sleep was disturbing his night sleep. Maybe something to consider x
@CeeCee that sounds great but I work Monday-Tuesday, so Wednesday and Thursday I’m working from home with him, something like this isn’t really doable for me personally ☺️
My daughter sleeps around 8.30pm til 7.30am, and naps 12/12.30 til 2/2.15. I tend to cap the nap at 2 hours. What time does your little boy go to bed and get up? That seems a very early nap for this age? x
