Bunk bed/loft bed

Hi, I just wondered if anyone is using a loft or bunk bed for their little one and if so how you are finding it. We are moving our 3 year old into a new bedroom so that he has time to get used to it before his baby bother moves into his current room in 6 months time. The room is relatively small as we live in a new build so I’m thinking of ways to save space. He’s mentioned he wants bunk beds but the advice on the websites generally seems to be that they’re for 6+. However, my son is quite sensible for his age and I think he could manage the ladder easily. Part of me is still worried about the recommended age though so I thought I’d reach out on here. Thanks in advance!

I just think about changing the sheet on it …

You can get some cabin beds that have steps instead of ladders. These might be slightly safer. My girl can make it up a ladder but I’d be worried if she needed the toilet in the middle of the night and would be a little disoriented and fall.

@Theresa I hadn’t even thought about that!

Thank you both. We ultimately decided we would be nervous wrecks leaving him in his room every night so it just wasn’t worth it. Maybe something to revisit when he’s older 😊

We got one from ikea that is a low bed now with a frame, and then you can flip it to make it a top bunk and get the space back underneath. We stuck with low for now for the toilet issue too 😂🤦‍♀️
