Meals

He will sit but it's an effort, unfortunately will only eat with screen time x

We’ve always struggled with this and haven’t been strict about it. Until recently she used to end up sitting on my knee most meals instead and/or ‘active eating’ - coming to the table for a bite then walking around until she came back for another. We went on holiday about a month ago and ate in a lot of restaurants and it somehow improved things a lot, since we got back she will sit in her chair for much longer and rarely ends up or my knee or active eating. Maybe she has just grown out of it 🤷‍♀️

Thank you both, just finding that I’m putting so much stress on the situation- more so myself. Plus thinking ahead to holiday in a few months etc! I’m an overthinker 😂

I think the restaurants helped as there were so many things to watch/see that she was distracted from the fact she was in the chair. But she did still end up in my knee a few nights. I think part of the problem is she just isn’t very food motivated. She isn’t particularly fussy but is more interested in basically anything else except food, so doesn’t really enjoy sitting to eat. Crayons/pencils and paper to draw on were also helpful in restaurants to give her something to do during the wait. As was bread and butter - she got very interested in spreading the butter on the bread and had a few meals where that was all she ate…

My daughter isn’t too bad…most days she sits at the table really nicely but she has the odd bad day. She sits and eat with her friends at nursery tho

Maybe she’s not hungry or would rather play? We decided to be really strict about it, he doesn’t have to eat anything but if he wants to eat, we sit. When he’s finished he can get up and wash his hands and play. If he wants to eat more he has to sit down again. He usually sits in his high chair but sometimes he asks to sit on our laps :) for our son he has phases where he eats a ton and days or week where he eats very little but when he’s hungry he comes to the table and sits down 🤗
