I’ve literally just started weaning so never used pouches or anything yet do you have any recommendations? Thank you I won’t over think it to much and do what I thinks best I guess. We have already booked we are going to Lanzarote on 4th June. X
@Jodie We used Ella’s Kitchen a lot, just check for allergens on the back of the packs and stick to age appropriate ones. There’s been a lot of negativity about them in the press recently but if used correctly then they’re absolutely fine. I’d say on holiday with an allergy baby is absolutely the right situation! I’d definitely post your query in the CMPA group too as we’re well out of weaning and they may have some more current tips and tricks with what’s currently on the market. Also split the pouches between suitcases/checked car seat or buggy in case one goes missing so you defo have them. Could also do a Boots order for after security x
I wouldn’t worry. You could ask the hotel about allergens so you know what to avoid, but at 6 months they won’t be eating much. So you could use pouches, and just offer a few finger foods such as fruit etc.
I’ve just been away with 11 month old and had to just do pouches because she’s cmpa, soya and something else that we’re trying to figure out💀 it’s just easier as well x
Thank you everyone! Do you have recommendations on which pouches and where to buy that have a good selection and is one pouch per day enough? X
@Jodie I had to take more because my LO is eating 3 meals a day, at 7 months I’d take a couple a day as they’re smaller for 6+ plus. We normally go for Ella’s kitchen dairy free but a lot of the normal pouches are also dairy free just check the ingredients. I also find Heinz do a lot of naturally dairy free ones. You can always give baby bits of mashed fruit off your plate as well x
@Marissa thank you I will have a look, my LO is only having one a meal a day for now but that might change by the time we go xx
If it’s just a week or so pouches are not your enemy! At 6 months they don’t eat loads anyway. When we went away at 9 months with a CMPA intolerance and we packed pouches into the car seat bag, then just added to meals with fresh fruit and things like corn on the cob (not cooked in butter) etc. A chip or two here and there… It’s only temporary and it’s better to not add stress whilst away. Stick with what you know! Or go self catering, although if you’re anything like me, it’s not a holiday if I have to cook for myself and make my own bed 🫣 FYI I found a lot of European places had oat milk or other “vegan” milks for example so that wasn’t hard but maybe join the CMPA group on here for hotel recommendations. And always double check what they’re being served, Ikos Olivia mixed up the milks and my daughter almost had cows milk on her cereal (like poured in front of her but husband noticed the difference in time, we should have kicked up more of a fuss but we didn’t think!).
