Fast let-down

Hi mamas, I’ve noticed that one of my breasts has a fast let-down, and my little one struggles to feed on that side because of the strong flow. Sometimes he starts crying, and I see milk leaking from all sides even with a deep latch. It really hurts to see him struggle, so I switch sides, but this makes the other side feel a bit engorged. I try hand expressing before feeding, but I’ve noticed that it seems to stimulate more milk production each time. Does anyone have tips on how to make feeding more comfortable for him on the side with a fast let-down?

What position are you feeding in? Have you tried lying back to feed from this side as this means the milk has to work against gravity.

I had the same issue when my little boy was a newborn, the midwives advised me to lean back when I feed and that worked☺️it did settle down after around the 6-8 week mark I think x

It should settle eventually, you can try leaning back or pinching slightly behind your areola at the start of the feed to slow the let down. I did also sometimes hand express or use a haakaa just to get the letdown and then feed just so baby wasn’t being jetted with milk.
