I kept the dummy until just before my boy turned 2 as it was such a lifesaver when pregnant with number 2. We just did cold turkey and after 3 days it was forgotten about.
following as i need to do the same, my little girl is an awful sleeper now she uses a dummy, which is annoying as it’s a life saver during the day and for nap time but it’s horrendous at night! x
I got rid of my sons dummy about 3 weeks ago. We just went cold Turkey. It took about 3 days for him to adjust but each day was better than the last
I randomly gave my baby a comforter one night as a distraction from her pulling her bottle down whilst feeding and she’s never had a dummy since 😂 She falls to sleep with it then I just remove it from her cot and she’s fine (It’s actually really cute)
Thanks all, I’ll try cold turkey this weekend when we don’t have to be up 🤣🫠 She’s got a few comforters so I’ll give her one of those too 💗
Went cold turkey with both my babies at 6 months, gave them a little comforter to mouth on and sleep association and they both slept much better for it, no wakes in the night looking for dummy x
@Emily how was the first night? if my Lg doesn’t have her dummy she just screams and screams and even a cuddle and a rock won’t settle her, it feels like she’s never fall asleep without it😩
@Jenna it was a bit like that for the first night trying to settle her, but I just stayed with her and stroked her head and let her know I was there and kept giving her comforter. She then woke at about 9pm and had to re settle her but since then she’s been consistently sleeping through
Yeah I cold turkeyed my daughter when she was two, I was surprised how quickly she forgot about it and latched onto one of her teddies instead who still takes pride of place on her bed to this day 🥺
Go cold turkey or give her something else as a comfort Both my kids have never had a dummy
