Weaning breakfast

My 10month will not eat breakfast! What does everyone else do for breakfast? Any advice? I feel like we are trying everything more than once. I don’t want breakfast to become a negative Experiance for him. Unless it’s a yogurt he just will not eat it. We have tried wheetabix, with his milk/normal milk/ adding purées, toast, crumpets, pancakes. Nothing we try he will seem to eat. When he has yogurt I always give him fruit to go with it but I don’t feel like this is a breakfast…. This is more of a desert after dinner. We’re struggling with all meals at the moment, there’s not a lot he will eat. Which is fine as we usually do manage him to get some food in him and it’s all new. But 12 months is quickly approaching and the whole dropping milk to rely on food terrifies me with the fact that he hardly touches his food now. A bit of a back story, he was a really low birth weight (4lbs 13), 1 day premature (36+6) and was in hospital for a week. We have always been told that there may be some developmental delays as even though it’s one day it’s still classed as premature, but that’s not always the case with prem babies. They will correct his age until he is 2. We tried to start weaning at 6 months but he was just not ready so we started properly at 7 months. Literally everything goes into his mouth but food…..

Have you tried to see if he will eat off your breakfast plate?xx

You can absolutely have fruit & yogurt for breakfast. There is nothing wrong with that whatsoever.

@Rachel literally came to say that, try high fat greek yogurt and berries and get some peanut butter in there!

try gradually adding smooth textured flavours into the yogurt he likes! like amounts of peanut butter fruit purée or different blended seeds to get some protein- i always chuck chia seeds (that have been soaked in water) into my babs food he loves it! don’t be disheartened though it took him like a month to get used to it. maybe if he likes more savoury things for dinner try some variations of that for breakfast- there’s no rules for what you give them- just whatever works for the both of you

He's only 7 months adjusted. I would give him time. Also, yogurt and fruit is perfectly fine for breakfast. Yogurt has protein and fruit provides nutrients. He has a very little belly

@Kiera I haven’t tried this. This is a good idea to try thank you

I eat yoghurt & fruit for breakfast most days!

Mine 15 months, isn’t very hungry in the early mornings so we just have some blueberries, strawberries or if I’m very tired a 5oz bottle (it’s okay to not drop your milk right at 12 months - it’s actually more healthy to just slowly drop then start them on cows milk which if you give too much can be detrimental.) then if she’s seeming hungry I’ll give her some fruit puree or more fruit and then usually snack until 11-12 until she’s ready for her “big breakfast” before her nap then big lunch at 2-2:30 dinner at 4-4:30 and a bottle and bed by 6:30-7pm. I’ve found you have to go with what works for you and your baby, people are trying to hard to write an actual parenting handbook but it’s always going to be guidelines and advice, not fact as not everything works the same for every human body. Everyone will also be better off if mum isn’t as stressed so breathe, take it slow, they’ll learn to eat eventually and if you stray from the norm doesn’t mean you’ve messed up x
