Weaning

We’re a week or so away from 6 months now and my little girl is showing increased interest in food that we’re all eating instead of puree. I’m a first time mum and the thought of giving her large pieces of food terrifies me, but she’s at the stage where she wants whatever I’ve got! Any tips for a mum who’s scared of weaning would be much appreciated x

I’d start off with mash and stuff. Food that she can slowly eat and won’t choke on. Then build the texture up.

With my son if we was all having pasta. I’d give him the same but just blitz in the blender for a bit so it’s not as chunky

Download the solid starts app and follow them on Instagram. It gives really useful advice and tips on how to prepare food in an age appropriate way and what’s safe and what’s not

Once they’re 6 months old they can have near enough whatever you have as long as it’s served appropriately, it doesn’t need to be mashed or puréed. Solid starts is a good guide on how to serve

Another shout for Solid Starts. Defo look at an infant first aid course to feel more prepared.

No need to blend, just give whole chunky food cooked and served appropriately for their age. Large pieces they can hold helps them learn how to take bites and chew
