Think it’s very normal! The only thing I can think is try to keep it fun and casual, if hes upset stop or take a break, don’t put pressure on it and he’ll get there. I’m a FTM and only just started weaning myself so I can’t speak from experience but from what I’ve heard it’s normal and just for them to explore and have a go at this point! Im using the same book and also make sure I also have a piece of broccoli, courgette etc at the same time to model what to do
Food under one is just for fun! A couple teaspoons at a time is totally normal x
It took my LB weeks to be interested despite all the signs being there. But it’s a whole new skill for them to learn. He didn’t know what to do with the food in terms of eating and then the added thing of tastes and textures. But we kept offering some every day, and found purée’s is what he took to first, and has gradually started to explore the finger foods I offer too. Now he loves it. But it’s taken about 4-5 weeks to get to this point. I’d leave the plate there in front of him for a while too whilst I ate and he gradually started to explore it. Never forced anything or rushed anything. Always ate at the same time too. And try to make it fun or light hearted. It’s very normal. A lot of what you see online is ‘what my 6 month old eats in a day’ and it’s basically full meals which set me up with very unrealistic expectations as not all babies are like that at all! It’s very normal for them to take time to learn this new skill and for them to enjoy it! X

Are you eating at the same time you offer baby food? With my first it took a long time for her to realize what food is I think, this time around baby has always been at the table with us for meals and seems to get that food is for eating. Compared to my other kid she goes crazy for food at the table. We are doing baby led as well, so she had a version or pieces of what we are eating and we eat all together. Maybe try eating at same time if you haven’t already
It can take time for babies to get into food. Don’t worry, keep offering little bits and bobs, they’ll get it eventually x
