Pumping timeline

How long did you pump exclusively? I see a lot of people stop breastfeeding at 6 months but others go to 1 year. I’m tempted to stop at 6 months but I’m curious what other people have as their pumping goals and why

Our goal started at 6 weeks then that turned into 6 months and now I think I’ll pump until a year use up all my freezer milk and then latch at bedtime until 1.5/2 maybe

But it’s a very personal choice to make Make sure your not dreading the pump session and make sure the mental health side is all good because a happy mum means a happy baby (apparently the baby may still whinge 😅)

Just as @Sarah says it’s usually the mental health and pump dread that determines when you end up finishing haha. I had planned to pump a year but I really hated it so eventually made the decision to stop at 6months especially as I was about to start work full time aswell then I used up my stash alongside formula for another month or so..just make the right decision your circumstance I guess. All the best

I'm planning on pumping until at least 1 year of age and then using up my stash until finished. I may keep pumping for longer, it just depends on how I feel at that time.

I ended up doing 1 year. I started to ween off pumping slowly to mitigate the risk of mastitis. I literally did my last pumping sessions on my son's birthday.

I started with a goal of 3 months, then 6, then a year. I toyed with trying for 2 (if she had latched to BF, I would have kept it up to at least 2) but I started to loathe my pumps. We were going away and I didn’t want to spend yet another holiday pumping, so I stopped at 15 months, with frozen milk to last til 18 months
