How much milk should baby have?
My 7 month old is on 3 meals a day and is struggling with her feeds.
Her feeds are only 7 ounces and she struggles to finish those.
She will only have three 4-5 ounce feeds and I’m not sure if this is enough?
If your baby is on three meals, how much milk are they having?
Personally, I wouldn’t worry too much about not having 7oz feed. My baby is 9m and has never really taken this much in one go, except maybe bedtime feed. She generally has 4-5oz at a time too. (7oz is quite a big feed I think? ) My understanding is at around this age, and in three meals, they should be on about 500 - 600mls but can vary from day to day. What’s important is that you are offering morning, evening and between meals (not only right after solids), and that they are growing well, and making wet nappies. Beyond that I really wouldn’t worry. They do need to reduce their milk intake and some do it quicker than others. I’m not an expert but think if they drop below 500mls of formula - it’s fine but that’s the time you should start giving vitamins (see NHS guidance). Or start vitamins anyway at 6m of breastfeeding.
