Feeding amount

Hey! I’m just wanting to see others opinions! My 11 week old (will be 12 weeks on Saturday) is already drinking 210ml on most bottles!! Long story short, she’s always been a big drinker from day dot! And was on 150ml for a while, and then we noticed she was getting more hungry about a week ago, we then upped it to 180ml about 5 days ago! However, after several days we noticed she’s still hungry and asking for more! So I couldn’t believe it but trialed a 210ml to just see if she would take it! for about 3 days now she’s been smashing them down. I’ve kept an eye out for over-feeding, however she isn’t throwing up, no belly ache, normal happy, calm baby! I am ALL for following what your baby wants and needs! However, I feel like I’m the only person that has a 11 week old that is HAPPILY finishing MOST bottles of 210ml let alone an almost 12 week old that’s even ON 210ml! I just wanted to see anyone’s advice and if anyone has had similar experience! As a first time mum, I of course second guess everything!! - I am just wondering maybe wether to contact a professional to see there view and possibly looking into a ‘hungry baby milk’ if that might suit her better! - she’s currently on Kendamil and has been since she was born! Many thanks!!!

My LO is on the same & she’s just turned 12 weeks! She’s been having this much for a week or, two. We’ve found she won’t always finish them, but at least if we offer & she leaves a little then we know she’s had plenty. I was worried about her taking too much, too but when we went to smaller bottles, she wanted more. She’s been a bigger baby since she was born, & also always loved her milk!

My 11 week old is on 7oz bottles 🙂

@Emma I’m so so glad I’m not the only one lol! Thank you so much! I think we just have some piggy babies😭🤣 I was speaking to my sister and her 6 month old literally never drinks a full 210 so I thought mine was abnormal 😭🤣 every single baby is different but glad your in the same boat🩷has put my mind at ease a little!

@Savanna thank you so much!! I’m glad some other people have some babies that just loveeee there milk 😉 I was starting to get worried that I was the only one lol😭🤣xxx

@India no all good, please don't worry yourself lovely! Xx

Big drinker here too! Weirdly this week he finally seems to have steadied out but my god have we had some health professionals tell us we’ve been over feeding for months. Drives me insane!! They tell us to feed on demand but then don’t feed more than recommended…?! feel like telling them to come and stop feeding my son half way through a bottle and see how they like it 😂

How often do you feed her with 210ml? How many feeds in 24 hrs? At week 5 when I told the midwife that my boy was having 120ml every 3 hours she almost shouted at me saying that I was over feeding. Week 7 we took him to A&E to check on his spit ups and the doctor told me to reduce the quantity to 90ml. The doctor said 120ml was too much even though baby was hungry. They also said feed on demand which is annoying, contradicts their initial statement. So since then I have been giving 90ml every 3 hours. I introduced an additional formula called Infatrini recommended by my dietitian ( consultant via my company insurance). I give him infatrini twice a day it keeps him fuller. Rest of the feeds is Aptamil. My boy is now 11 weeks. He was born premature at 35 weeks.

My girl just turned 12 weeks but I've been making 210ml bottles for at least the last 3 weeks 😂 always takes between 5-6.5oz of it, but in 24 hours she always drinks around what's a guideline for her weight and she seems happy with the amount

@Dhiya it’s every 3 hours on the dot and she only had 4/5 feeds a day and goes through the night luckily, I also feed on demand

@Sophie literally! If I burp her and fully take the bottle away she will fuss for more!🥺 I also feed on demand every 3 hours and she takes it all! Like I understand there’s a guideline but I also don’t want my baby to go hungry!! Xxx

Completely normal! Don’t change anything just keep doing as you are. ‘Hungry baby’ milk is literally just made to be harder for them to digest - meaning they feel ‘fuller’ steer clear! Sounds like your baby is thriving 🙌🏻

@Sally thankyou so much!!! She seems super happy!!! Big feeder🫣 thank you!!! I really needed to hear this xxx
