Am I dirty or doing it wrong?

Okay so my pans for my oven, 3 or so out of the maybe 6 we have get rusty after being dried off and even oiled. They’re a few years old but I use a metal scrubby for a while and make sure it’s dry otherwise it’s horrible.

I end up using tin foil or rescrubbing suuuper well, drying and oiling real quick before using so it doesnt even have time😭 help

I assume they are cast iron??

Photo? Are they carbon steel or are they cast iron? How are you drying it how are you oiling it. Do you need all 6? Maybe get rid of 3 so you only have 3 in rotation, the more you use them the less chance it’ll rust, the longer it’s left there unused the higher chance it’ll have to rust. If you don’t need all 6 get rid of the 3 that’s rusting. My cast iron pans don’t rust but it literally lives on the stove and is used every day it doesn’t even make it to storage, except the Dutch ovens which are enameled.

Sounds like you are scrubbing too much potentially, when you say “scrubbing suuuuuuper well” most cast irons just need a light scrape for food to come off and that’s it, if you are extra scrubbing you are potentially scrubbing off the seasoning. Mine just need hot water and a brush I do that for 30secs rinse and then dry that’s it I don’t scrub, nothing sticks to it for me to scrub. So maybe that’s why also?

I dry mine on high heat in the oven after washing and seasoning them to make sure they are completely dry.

@DC💙🩷💜 they’re like aluminum oven pans 😭 yes they’re cheap and I can buy more but I just don’t understand why they get like that

@Parker 又 I have two cast irons! They’re perfect and I don’t have issues with them, I scrub with salt or scrubby and oil it up looks like the pic in the guide

@Kellie I say 6 overall but that’s only because we have a muffin pan, smaller rectangle bake pan, big skinny pan for say fries or something. And my round cake pans both of them, I’ll take a pic but I use just a kitchen rag to dry until it’s completely dry, we don’t have a dishwasher. And use veg oil or light pam spray. Probably gunna end up tossing and getting more til we can get a nice set

@Haley 💚 I always use a rag maybe that’s why, I mean my cast iron is the only one I don’t use said rag but that’s because my oven pans dry in .2 seconds and leave that nasty red rusty marks around it 😔
