Breastfeeding and baby has a cold

Is anyone struggling with breastfeeding? My little one is 4 weeks on Monday and I’ve had mastitis which I’m on antibiotics for but today have woken up with my other boob sore and swollen. It’s becoming a nightmare and I feel like I may have to give up and go to formula, I just don’t know what to do 😭 Also, my little one sounds like she’s picked up my partners cold! Has anyone’s little one had one or know what to do when they do? Her little nose sounds really bunged up and it’s effecting her sleep. Feel like I’m failing this morning with the pain, lack of sleep and worrying x

Mastitis is the worst, I’m sorry you’ve had this so early on in your breastfeeding. With my first baby I used to get blocked ducts a lot, and having 2 hot showers a day really helped (morning and evening). And I found that feeding got a lot easier once we got past about 8 weeks. For the cold, try a nasal spray and a snot sucker - it’s a bit gross, but really does clear their nose. If you do that before a feed they should be able to feed more easily.

They helped me when I got mastitis. It’s horrid but keep feeding and start on the sore side so baby has more chance of draining your boob x
