Any babies sitting unassisted?

If so, when did they start? And did you do anything to encourage sitting? Like propping them up, or just tummy time?

my boy just turned 5 months and he’s starting to get the hang of sit up on his own. We started practicing propping him up on the couch and on his play mat, help balance him and let go of him to see how long he’d hold himself up.

Mine pretty much lives on her stomach- overnight too- cringe. She does sit up with assistance but not on her own fully and is wobbly

Mine is just over 5 months and he’s not sitting independently yet but he’s trying! I’ll sit him up in the middle of my bed and practice that way so when he falls over it’s a soft surface. I also use the boppy pillow behind him and put his piano in front of him to keep him interested.

What's the rush? The typical age for unassisted sitting is between 6-9 months

Okay. My littlest one is in physical therapy. I can confidently say tummy time. Prop sitting is a good exercise for the trunk control needed. Also consulted the physical therapist on this one as well. The fisher price sit me up is great to help assist trunk control as long as your child is centered and not leaning to one side or the other. If you don’t have one you can use couch pillows or a boppy to prop your little one up.

But also, sitting unassisted is usually a 6 month milestone so don’t stress too much.

Yeah she’s meeting her milestones great, I know there’s no rush to get her sitting/she has plenty of time. It’s just that sometimes she will be unhappy on her back or tummy and then I prop her up with our boppy to sit and then she’s happy so I just feel like she wants to be able to sit 😅
