Same here my boy will be almost 8 when our little girl comes
My first son is 8 and my second son is 4 weeks old. I'm so glad that I've waited for this age gap. My first absolutely loves his brother, he loves helping. He will ask to feed his brother, loves helping with bath time, he sings to him if he's unsettled, reads to him whilst I am feeding him. Any noise his brother makes and he's always checking on him. Ngl, the first week or two was a little overwhelming for him and us. As it was only him that had our attention for 8 years, so he would get upset if his brother needed the attention first. I felt the Mum guilt as I couldn't spend as much time with him during those first two weeks as baby was adjusting to life in the outside world. But, I've always made sure to make time for him, including him in stuff that he can help out with. Our thing at the moment is in the kitchen. He loves helping cut the veggies and helping me make tea. But it became so much easier after week 2 x
There is a 6 year age gap between my son and daughter. Also, there is a 10 year gap between me and my sister, so I relate a lot to this x
I have two boys, 7.5 years apart. My oldest is the most amazing big brother and my baby adores him so much, no one makes him giggle as much as big brother! I think it's worth discussing the attention split as much as you can beforehand. And try to make time for activities just with her when baby arrives. When I got out of hospital (was in for a week) I handed baby to family and played board games with my son on our own for a bit because he really needed that connection. It's hard now but I do try to have time with him one on one as much as possible as he'll remember this, and baby won't!
My boys are 14 years apart and it’s great. My oldest helps if I need it and they love each other to bits
No but I’m in the same situation apart from it’s 8 years
