Unsure if baby has an allergy or not!

So, long story short my baby was on cow & gate originally and due to mucous/liquidy stools got put on a trial of Aptamil pepti 1 hypoallergenic formula for 10 days. She seemed reasonably content on it but spat up LOADS because it’s so thin and watery. After 10 days of it, we switched to Hipp organic. Baby loves it, but since day 3 on hipp organic she seems so miserable, crying all the time and cooing/smiling less. (Baby is now 8 weeks for context). She has no other allergy symptoms and her poos are normal. I’m not sure if it’s a phase or if she does have an allergy. Not sure whether to go back to pepti 1 or to stick with hipp for a bit longer!

If she has a milk allergy 10 days is not enough time to trial as cows milk can stay in there system for weeks, I’m not sure how old your baby is but my daughter spat it up but now she’s 8 months and fine with pepti, I mixed pepti and breast milk together to start off with though

@Millie my daughter is 8 weeks old. I’m not convinced she has an allergy if I’m honest but it’s just so hard to tell what is causing her fussiness!

@Charlotte my son never had allergies and he was just a sick up baby, more formula on the floor than in his belly, we tried comfort milk and he refused it because it was to thick so the gp told me to continue with the milk he was on originally, formula is known for spit up or ‘pour up’ and it’s not as bad as it looks which in my eyes was a crazy thing to think at the time, may just have to find the right formula that causes the least discomfort, my son used aptimel but that was 6 years ago now they always change the formulas

@Millie yeah, it’s trial and error isn’t it! It’s not the spit up/sick I’m worried about, it’s her discomfort/crying a lot which I’m concerned about. Something is bothering her and I’m not sure if it’s an allergy, gas or something else

I could have written this myself my 8 week old was on hipp and he was fine on it but was constipated so got given lactulose that done nothing and referred us to a paediatrician we tried aptamil comfort (didn’t notice a change) then we got given movicol (which helps) the paediatrician then put us on aptamil pepti but since then he’s so unsettled after bottles he spits up most of it and is sick (but it’s clear) and he still doesn’t poo unless he has movicol! I also don’t think he has cmpa because the only symptom he has is constipation and it hasn’t got better with this milk..

So my LO has been prescribed Pepti 1 due to lots of mucous in stools. No other symptoms of CMPA. Shes a happy, content baby.... ive just gotten into a wormhole of reading reviews about Pepti. We were on Cow and Gate 1 but have literally just given a first feed of Pepti. After reading reviews, im reluctant about the Pepti as I don't want my happy baby to change! Can I ask how your LO is getting on now??

@Ashley my baby seems more settled! She does sick up quite a lot because it’s so watery, but she definitely doesn’t seem as upset. Still has a bit of mucous in her poo but she’s only been on it for 5 days now so we will give it time :)

@Ashley sorry I should have said we are back onto the Aptamil pepti 1 now

@Ashley my little boy is worse on it! Still doesn’t poo and unsettled after most bottles

@Shannon how long has he been on it? We gave 1 feed of it last night and she projectile vomitted later on.... shes 7 weeks tomorrow and has only been sick once since we had her, twice including last night We are at a loss as to what to do as she seems happy on cow and gate but we might try hipp. If that doesn't improve.... we might have to admit defeat and try pepti I just don't want want unhappy baby

@Ashley 3 weeks now, the doctors want me to stay on it for another 2 weeks🙄 oh no that isn’t goodb my little one is sick with this, whereas with hipp he wasn’t
