šŸƒ throughout pregnancy

Hi mamas, I’m 36 weeks today and I planning to quit my one joint a day but honestly it’s been helping with the appetite and MH. I wanted to ask if any UK mamas who continued to smoke throughout if they had any issues when baby arrived? I know that I can consent to drug testing but just wanted some clarity on how you got on.

i’m US, so I don’t wanna mess up the ratings for the UK question but for me no problems for baby! I had pre eclampsia after birth so I had to stay for 5 days but baby was cleared within 24 hours to go home!

Not from the UK but honestly with both my children and currently pregnant with my third I've had no problems at birth. Both my children were born healthy and even in my current pregnancy, baby is very healthy.

I am UK. Not me but someone I was quite close to smoked throughout her pregnancy. Her son was born prematurely and has multiple issues now, whether they’re due to smoking or not I couldn’t say. She also had social services involved for a long time due to smoking and other issues. Same with my neighbour who also smoked throughout both of her pregnancies.

@Jordan your daughters are adorable! x

@Skye thank you for this information! May I ask were they heavy smokers throughout x

No worries, I wouldn’t exactly say either of them were overly heavy smokers but they didn’t really cut down too much x

@Jordan this birth story also happened to my friend who didn’t smoke!

Awh thank you so much šŸ’—šŸ’—

I’ve been smoking since about four months postpartum, but I didn’t smoke all of my pregnancy. I don’t think there’s any issues with it as long as you do it away from your baby and make sure you change your clothes and wash your hands even have a shower if possible I’m also known early help services because because of my health has been quite low and they know that they don’t mind they just monitor what I do

I get if you feel like you need it, but when that baby comes, you’re gonna not even want to because you’re gonna be so tired but yeah, if you do it, take some space from your baby. Make sure you wash yourself after.

Babies being premature is one of the side effects they say but that can also happen without smoking. I love weed but it’s not worth it to me while pregnant. If you’ve already been smoking a joint daily and your 36 weeks you’re probably fine as long as baby is growing and developing normally. Can effect cognitive development too but probably not for every baby. All babies are probably effected differently and the internet is not always right

@Cassie thank you! Yeah, my baby is growing good. Lungs, brain, kidney and heart all clear and healthy developing good. I think the fact that I take prenatal vitamins and have a good water intake it’s helped with his growth. 😩x I was like if I’m going to smoke I’m going to make sure I’m somewhat healthy! 🄲
