Wrong NIPT results

At 10.5 weeks I recieved the results that my baby had a chromosome abnormality according to the NIPT results. It was 2 months too early to get an aminocentis done. So I had 2 months of stress, worry and just absolute torture not knowing if I was even having a baby at all. Finally got the results that baby is 100% healthy and now the lab keeps calling and saying I owe them $700 from the NIPT test. Would you pay this? I feel like it did nothing for me except ruin the first half of my pregnancy

Unfortunately the thing about NIPT tests is they are not 100% accurate. They test warning signs and that is why we have to do a follow up amnio to verify. I’m sorry this was your experience I couldn’t imagine the stress and worry you went through 🩷

Very similar story here. Although they didn't ask me to pay, but I 100% feel the torture you went through until you were able to get the amniocentesis and results came back fine 🙏

Were you not able to get it covered by insurance? I’m sorry you went through that. I was told that my son could possibly that this glycogen storage thing with his liver. So I spent most of my pregnancy researching and trying to understand what it was and what we would have to do. Stressful and annoying mostly because it just didn’t make sense at the time

Is this Natera?

@Hailey it was MaterniT 21

@Bria I have no clue why insurance didn't cover it bc they did with my last pregnancy that was only 2 years ago

I have this issue with natera and I called cause they covered my last pregnancy literally the year prior and they said the doctor didn’t put in a prior authorization that’s why it wasn’t getting covered so they and my insurance needed to fix it

@Hailey thank you so much. I'll have to call and talk to them. See if anything can be done.

You got this! See if it’s something like that where your insurance can handle it. Mine covers it and when they tried to get money from me I shut it down. I’m still working through it but all that money is diaper money and food for your family. I didn’t go through exactly what you did with them messing up my stuff but still try to fight like hell! We got your back

Did you sign anything before taking the test? Is there any small print? Where I'm from if you didn't sign anything concerning costs at the doctors before taking any kind of test or treatment you're not legally obligated to pay.

Of course you should pay! NIPT tests are not 100% accurate, they're 99.99% accurate. Plus, why did you have if done so early? Mine was done on the NHS at around 16 weeks, and I knew it wasn't 100%, but the accuracy of the results was enough for me

America is crazy for medical bills 😂
