Oral thrush

My little one is only a week old and we both had infections from labour. We’ve been home after she finished her course of antibiotics for 3 days and a family member has pointed out she looks like she has oral thrush.
Anyone experienced this before? I don’t know whether we’re now overthinking it but very conscious of it and struggling to settle her tonight, could it be this?
Any advice would be useful 🙏🏻

It's a possibility. We're going through it at the moment.
Oral thrush presents in babies as a white tongue that is raised and can't be wiped away. The7nmay also have nappy rash. You'll need to see a GP to get medicine if it is.
If you're breast feeding, you may also have really sore nipples and sharp pains in the breast and nipple.
I'd go see a GP, if it is, they'll diagnose and give meds for you both.

thank you for the reply, the only issue is she isn’t registered with the gp yet. The hospital she was born have said to take her to their children’s a&e tonight but it’s half an hour away so was thinking we could take her tomorrow hopefully instead.
She could just be irritable from the heat 😩

Yea, I don't have Medicare yet for my little one either. I just took her and let them know that I've applied for Medicare. They were OK with that, but every GP is different.

Oral thrush sounds pretty common from what my friends have experienced and seems to be more likely if your little one has recently been on antibiotics. Definitely worth checking out
