AL and bank hol entitlement (UK)

HR or Payroll girls- I have some days of AL accrued unused since the start of my Maternity leave until April, and from April to my end date (have resigned) I’ll have accrued about 6.9 so round up to 7. Can you explain to me how the bank holidays work. Every bank holiday during my maternity leave has been during paid leave period (enhanced and statuatory) so do they pay the remainder of whatever would be my daily rate? Like if for example SMP paid £40 approximately per day, and my usual daily rate is 200, would they pay me +160 per day for those bank holidays? OR do they pay the bank holiday days in full, as in my full daily rate so 8 days added as paid at the end of Mat leave. Someone pls tell me you understand and can explain?? 😅

I can’t account for your company, because my company couldn’t give me a straight answer either but mine are being added as 7 extra days paid at the end of mat leave if that helps 💀😂 although I know it doesn’t 😭 it seems to be something that confuses everyone as well as work places xx

@Aimee honestly baffled, mainly because I use to submit the basic payroll info to my companies director each month, and when I mentioned adding a girls bank holidays to the end of her maternity I was told it didn’t work like that… can’t remember if they even explained why or just brushed me off. So it got me thinking that they just add the remainder of the portion of each day that isn’t accounted for from SMP. But I’ve checked online and ACAS says you can’t take two leaves at one time so technically they can’t pay for MAT leave from back hol leave…. Idk I’ll guess I’ll hear from them whenever they have a straight answer too haha

I got nothing for my bank holidays no pay no extra holiday just gone into nothing 😞

@Flo that's totally illegal. Go on the acas website and copy some links and email them to your hr

Bank holidays are to be paid in full!

You are right you cannot be on two periods of leave at the same time, so any unused accrued holiday (and bank holidays) throughout maternity leave will be paid up to you in your final pay (Head of HR here)
