Taking Leave from Work

I’m at 30 weeks and struggling to work my 8-6 job. I don’t know how some ladies work up until their due date! When I talked to my OB about leave before my due date at 37/38 weeks, she said she couldn’t sign off on paperwork before 40 weeks unless there was a medical need. I realize that if I take more time off before my due date that it might mean less time with baby after they’re born, and I’m ok with that. Folks who are taking a month off work before their due dates, say around 35/36 weeks, how are you doing it??

Following because same🥲 30 weeks and absolutely struggling through every day at work

With my first I got put on leave at 32 weeks and my doctor just wrote “severe nausea” as the reason. My employer took it.

My heart goes out to you mamas- I also struggled a toooon with going to work while pregnant with my first. I was sooo tired and couldn't focus so I spoke to my OB and he suggested squeezing in naps on my breaks to keep me awake and not overtired. Id seriously suggest doing that because I worked till 1 week before I had my son and even then, I was kicking myself when it came time to go back to work because I wantes that extra week at home with him.

No shame in not working early. in my state we have temporary disability available as a pregnant person. If your struggling your obgyn can write a note and you can get partial pay for it

I’m struggling at work to. My doctor is telling me the said thing. They will not give me a not for anything. The medical need should be everything that’s associated with pregnancy should be enough

I’m in the same boat—work has been really tough. I just don’t have the mental capacity, and I’m constantly exhausted. But I want to have as much time off as possible once she arrives, so I’m planning to use some of my paid time off and sick leave to start my leave about a week before my due date… we’ll see. SMH

I’m having a hard time with it at 30 weeks also but I can’t afford to not work unfortunately.

My last working day is next Thursday and I’ll be 34+1. I’m so ready. My hips and back are killing me.

Yesterday was my last day of work before being a SAHM (in training lol, scheduled for July 21) I'm 29 weeks today. I had a really active job as a server and my body just couldn't handle it anymore

Taking a month off before due date. At 36 weeks. Can do it due to state of California disability rules. My colleagues working at the same company for let’s say Texas, cannot

I’m 31 weeks pregnant and my OB signed a doctors note stating I am allowed / should work from home. I still go into work but we agreed I work straight 5-6 hrs ( as much as I can take ) instead of working my typical 8/9 hr days before I start maternity leave ( I speak to my OB about that at 32 weeks )

Same, since I can’t sleep but I already planned out my maternity leave so it’ll last until February 😩

If the MD writes a note do you have to file for disability? Or is it just a legal thing for work to go on leave?

@Lauren it depends on your company, if they offer maternity leave or not. My old company I got 6 weeks maternity and 6 weeks disability. I could go longer with FMLA but I would not have gotten paid

Im 29 weeks and wanna go on leave now lol im also high risk and have so many appointments weekly and now have to add more. But waking up after not sleeping well and working 9ish hours is painful
