Girl not at 18 weeks. Thats not even an issue lol. And even when you’re further along it’s not extremely bad. If lying on your back is comfortable and not causing any pain then it’s perfectly fine for you to continue to do it. You’ll definitely turn if the baby is uncomfortable, or if you’re putting pressure on nerves. This is what my doctor told me when I was like 36 weeks
It depends. I couldn’t lie on my back during pregnancy for too long due to it causing my blood pressure to drop. After almost passing out once, my doctor told me not to unless I have to and if I do, then make sure it is no longer than 5 mins. It is always best to sleep on your right side for blood flow to baby.
You shouldn’t lie flat on your back as your belly gets bigger. The issue is the weight of the baby and your growing belly cutting off blood circulation, which can be dangerous for baby. If you have to lie on your back as you get bigger, you should be reclined, not totally flat. If you feel dizzy, you should switch positions. This goes for working out as well if you’re doing a movement that is lying on your back. Short periods is okay, only if you do not feel dizzy/light headed.
https://health.clevelandclinic.org/exactly-how-bad-is-it-to-sleep-on-your-back-when-youre-pregnant it increases pressure on the inferior vena cava which gives you and the fetus blood. Some small studies have shown an increase in chance of stillbirth in women who slept on their back for several hours at a time later in pregnancy but there is not conclusive evidence to say it contributes to possibility of still birth. The best side to sleep on is the left side since it relieves pressure on organs and is best for blood flow.
No they tell you it is but after speaking to my doctor it's ok as long as your comfortable. Currently I'm 28 pregnant and the only way I can sleep is on my back
