Baby is 4 months and is breastfed and also takes a bottle of expressed milk a day. I have been trying to introduce formula to take some of the pressure off. Although he's accepted it twice, he mostly rejects it and cries and then I give in and give him breast milk.
I now need to use a steroid ointment on my breasts which means I can't breastfeed until I wash it from my skin. Ideally I would have the cream on all day to heal, wash, and then breastfeed at night. I don't have a massive stash of frozen breast milk, so I really need him to take formula. Any tips? Am I just supposed to hold out and keep trying the formula until he eventually takes it? It's just so awful knowing what he wants, but I need to heal properly, and breastfeeding delays it 😩

It might be worth trying to do a mix of breast and formula in one bottle to help your baby get used to the taste. Gradually, you can increase the ratio of formula to breast milk.

If you have a partner or family who can give the bottles that can help too (and you leave the room) so they can’t smell you and your breastmilk !
