Calpol before vaccines

My LO is getting her 8w vaccination tomorrow and was wondering if anyone gave Calpol before the vaccination to help deal with fever and fussiness. Didn't work? How long in advance did you give them it? Thx

I only gave after my baby started showing symptoms (temperature) for pain I used warm water

I always give about 30 mins before as I sometimes think it should help with the pain from the jabs too. With my little boy the advice was they don’t need calpol with the 12 week jabs so I didn’t give him one and we’d been home about 30 mins and he started screaming out of nowhere. 2.5ml in the cheek and I then blow on their face to get them to swallow. Works every time x

My little girl is having her jabs tomorrow and the health visitor said not to give Calpol before the vaccinations as it can mask up any illness they may have and to take Calpol with us to give it to her straight after her injections

I gave her calpol about 40 minutes before hand to help with her fever and I think it helped a lot as she has been okay for the most part just very sleepy! It’s personal preference though!! X

I gave my baby calpol 30 mins before the appointment, she cried when they did the jabs (presumably because of the shock) and then she was fine! She slept the whole way home and was fine for the rest of the day, slept lots and we kept her dosed up with calpol with 3 further doses and she was all good the following days too!

Sorry 2 further doses

I give it in the waiting room but only when we get called in, as sometimes there's a massive delay in appointments

I'm on day 2 now since the injections and still using Calpol, just trying to only do 4 a day. She's burning up in between doses. Much more lax with the doses with my second baby, just not willing to let her suffer like I did with the first!

I just spoke to the nurse today about this, she said to give calpol 30 mins before appointment as a preventative x

Thank you!

I brought it with me but the nurse said to give it when we got home from the appointment

I was told by the nurse to give it 30 minutes afterwards and it worked for us. She didn't start showing signs of discomfort until she was ready for the second dose four hours later
