Formula Switching

Hello , my baby was born prem at 35 weeks so he was put on SMA prescribed and now he is 7 weeks old and I’ve gone and changed his milk to kendamil it’s been 3 days now and I feel it isn’t sitting right with him as he cries after a feed and also seems really windy . Don’t know if I should switch back to his SMA or wait and see how he gets on with the kendamil milk .thanks x

Hey, I used cow and gate for my first child not knowing the difference between the different formulas but since having my second who struggles with his bowel movements the doctor recommended I try different formulas and see which one he took to as they are all different and affect babies differently. If he's not happy with kendamil, and was happy with the sma then you could try switching back or you could try a different formula and give each a week to see how he takes to them and decide which one he prefers from there 😊 I think the most important thing is to go with your gut as with everything to do with babies
Mum instinct is usually always the right way to go 😊 xx

Another thing to remember when switching formulas is there is always a period of adjustment in the body too so he will take a few days to adjust which may be giving him tummy aches depending on how long you've been trying him on the new formula for xx

Why did you switch formulas? Was there a problem with the SMA? x

Hey ladies ,well basically the reason why I switched was he wasn’t getting full with the SMA milk and was advised to switch to kendamil milk . It’s been a week today and he seems to be settling with the new milk but sometimes he gets uncomfortable with passing wind don’t know if that is normal x
