Breast fed to bottle feeding schedule??
I’m ready to give up EBF and transition to formula. My question is what does a typical day time wise look like for a formula fed baby?
My boy is fed on demand, averaging 11 feeds in a day. His formula says 5 feeds a day which I just can’t imagine him going down to, let alone how you’d space this across 24 hours!
He has been having a formula feed every evening for about 2 weeks now, so I know he can tolerate it and will gradually introduce an extra bottle over time until we are on 5 a day but I’m intrigued to see how those who bottle feed spread their feeds out!

Im slowly transitioning too! Ive found that he can’t handle a big bottle all at once, im guessing its because we used to just breast feed on demand too and he was a bit of a snacker. So ive been doing a 90ml bottle every 2 hours-ish and he seems to prefer that! And then we’re still breast feeding at night for now ☺️

my boy is really tiny so only needs 5oz feeds for formula currently, but I will definitely bear that in mind about splitting the feeds if he struggles with the transition!
Are you just pumping whilst you feed formula through the day? I like the idea of his overnight feeds to be the last ones I drop as they comfort him back to sleep.
I do feel guilty as it provides him so much comfort when he’s upset but it’s the right thing for us now to move away from it
Every baby is different my son has 4 x 7oz usually around 0700 1000 1300 and 1700.
I let him demand though like today he fed at 10:00 and didn’t have another bottle till 14:30 as he didn’t wake up from his nap till then he still demanded his evening bottle at 17:00.
We do 5 6oz feeds a day but will be doing 7oz soon. Feeding schedule as follows:

3pm
6.30pm
10pm
I was pumping at first but ive stopped now as its just too much for me. I feel exactly the same and felt so emotional and guilty about stopping but hes so happy with the bottles in the day and just breastfeeding at night. Good luck! We have to do whats best for ourselves 🥰

ah ok that’s interesting and your supply has kept up enough currently to give him the night feeds then? I’m planning on just pumping to relieve discomfort when I drop more feeds.
You’re so right and I need to remember that, plus he is so happy taking a bottle so hopefully won’t miss feeding from me too much!

7 - 8oz each feeding. Formula is much more filling so they go 3 - 4 hours between feeds. I combi feed expressed breastmilk or formula.
Mine is definitely more of a snacker, which I put down to being breast fed until 4 months. She'll rarely finish a bottle in one sitting, she prefers to have it in two feeds over the course of an hour. But still only technically 6 feeds a day. If it helps, my girl was not remotely bothered about the switch, she didn't fuss about no breast, she enjoyed the bottle flow I think and is very content now
