Ungrateful

I had a girl previously 18m and am pregnant with my second both ivf.

Recently had a scare on the early scan the sonographer mentioned there was excess fluid and baby was sick, I had some bloods and baby is clear for any genetic conditions. Will have another scan to reconfirm all ok.

I was so worried and stressed. Now I’ve found out baby is a boy and I’m soo upset, I’ve even cried. I feel so ungrateful but the feeling is from inside I can’t control it! I feel so ungrateful. I wanted my daughter to have a sister.

Did anyone else have gender disappointment

I'm the same with IVF babies and ok currently pregnant with my FET. I had a boy the first time round and was so disappointed as I'd convinced myself he was going to be a girl. I want to find out this time so that if I have another boy I can face any potential disappointment before baby is here so I can just love baby when they arrive.

Your feelings are valid. Feel them, grieve for the loss of having a girl/whatever your grieving for. Then focus on loving your boy, your daughter will be the best big sister ever and boys are fun even if they do like exuberance and mud!

I haven’t got and I’m not pregnant with a second but I always have this guilt feeling of thinking about when we are ready for another I want it to be a girl so bad. I adore being a girl mom and being a boy mom just does not even compute in my mind lol.

It’s absolutely ok to have gender disappointment. Doesn’t mean you are going to love him any less! Congratulations 💙

I can understand your disappointment. My first and only is a boy, and deeply in my heart I wanted a girl. I was a bit disappointed too when I found out but it’s funny how it has changed in my case. Now I’m so glad that I have this healthy little boy that needs as much love as a girl would, and I can’t imagine him being a girl. If I got blessed to be pregnant again, I would be happy if my boy has a little brother, but wouldn’t mind a girl. Just wanted to share that your perspective might change 🙂

I was disappointed when I found out I was going to have a boy and not a girl so much so that I have no memory of how the rest of the scan went or our drive back home. I really wanted a girl, but it’s changed now as I love him so much.

Im sure you will enjoy the best of both worlds while raising your daughter and son. Sending love.
