My baby just doesn't seem to be gaining weight.

He's been around the same weight for like nearly 2 months. He's not small or underweight he's actually pretty chunky but he's just ...not gaining. I'm so confused cause this is not like it was with my first. He loves food and bottles. I don't know what is going on

If he isn’t loosing or gaining but staying the same. That’s ok. Has he gained height? It’ll balance out. All kids are different.
My first was skinny 3% whole first year. Second baby chunky but they both love food just shows differently

he's fluctuated a bit. Like a few weeks ago he was about 22.15 then he went to 22.10 today

Is he still moving well in the percentiles? My daughter wasn’t gaining or losing weight the past 4 months and dropped from the 47th percentile to the 14th no matter how much she ate. she ended up having thyroid issues, we finally found out today. Trust your momma instincts! If you’re worried talk to your pediatrician. If they say it’s nothing like mine did and you’re not sure. Get a second opinion. 🫶🏼 it’s probably nothing but it’s always okay to check!

that could have just been he needed to poop or just drank something that’s not a big fluctuated

Avatar

well this has only been occurring for like...2 months so I'm not sure I have enough data yet. Were there any other signs?

Avatar

no it's not big, but I would expect him to like....gain a bit at some point

it may not happen till closer to a year or after but if you know he eats then I wouldn’t worry.

same here my baby is 19 pounds he just gain 1 pound over the past two months! He was in the 55 percentile now 30th. 🥴

we didn’t have any other signs! Just got lucky enough to find a doctor that listened! Your little one is at the age where they’re starting to be mobile so that could definitely slow down the weight gain! Give it another month or two and see what happens. 🫶🏼

Kind of talking out loud here so may be a silly comment, but if he’s more active and he’s staying closer to the same weight, it could be because he’s moving around so much
