Baby hates the car seat

My little one hasn't liked the car seat since birth. He tries to wriggle himself around in the seat once he's strapped in, I think he hates the feeling of being strapped in. He has a dummy sometimes, so we do give him that to soothe him. Other times, he does calm down himself but this may take a while.

My little one initially hated the car seat and would throw such a tantrum but now she loves it as she associates it with going out 😃

Yep 🤦🏽‍♀️ it really is stressful! I have to time it perfectly after a feed when he's still in his happy relaxed phase of the wake window before he gets too tired or right after a nap before he gets hungry. Literally twice in the last 2 months have I been able to transfer him whilst asleep and sometimes he's ok if I'm travelling with someone as they distract him. I've put appropriate toys over the top of the seat and on the car handle above the window which seems to have helped distract him a bit. Someone said to either put a mirror so he can see himself or a picture of me and my husband on the back seat 🙈

I'm worried about ever being able to go long distance and think it's from when we had to do a 1 hr 45 min trip away from home for an appointment. We stopped anytime he needed a feed which was once and a change once again but I think not being able to pick him up straight away because of distance to services (which was only about 20 mins max) has made him worry we aren't going to get him 😭

Ours initially hated the cat seat, he was much better after we took the newborn insert out. Our main saviour has been we invested in a 360 spin one with a recline option and he’s much happier in it x

My LG haaaates the car seat, I think she was a little squished in the newborn insert but wasn’t long enough to be safe without it, I’ve removed it now however she still isn’t the happiest, basically has to have a dummy in the entire time otherwise starts lunging forward
