Post partum sex

I’m 2.5 weeks post partum and my partner and I have just resumed having sex, my sex drive is through the roof as is his, I feel like we’re in the minority but it felt right and wasn’t painful or anything, anyone else out there the same?

Not the same but wish I was lol! I’m 6 months PP and we’ve only had sex twice because it feels like I’m a virgin again 😂

that’s so scary. having intercourse that soon after birth can cause bad infections since ur cervix and tears (if u had any) are still healing. be careful mama!!!💕

Its fine if you have the sex drive but maybe do something non-penetrative. Your placenta left a wound in your uterus the size of a dinner plate. Any sort of bacteria can get in through your still very open cervix and cause a nasty infection. Even normal flora that is exchanged during sex. Once you hit the 6 weeks mark it will decrease your chances of an infection with giving your uterus time to heal and your cervix time to close.

The reason they say wait 6 weeks is because you have a dinner plate sized wound inside where your placenta was so there is a huge chance of infection whilst you’re still healing.

I dunno I’ll wait the 6w. My grandma lost a cousin back in the day in Vietnam because her husband pressured her sex Pp and not only she did get an infection but because she tried to hide it from her MiL she couldn’t get to the Drs in time to get antibiotics so the mum passed and left her baby behind. Morbid, I know, but the last thing I wanna do while healing w a baby is be at the Drs asking for antibiotics because I couldn’t wait. You do you though.

Oh wow did you give birth naturally 😭😭😭

We were the same, 2 weeks pp my tears had healed and I had stopped bleeding so we just made sure everything was as clean as can be in case the risk of infection was still high (used condoms), if your comfortable and okay you absolutely do what you feel x

Yall dont be scared of infections ? Or getting pregnant again? just wait the 6 weeks 😭

Giirrlll that is wild. You may /feel/ “fine” but your body is still healing from a major ordeal! You gotta be careful with that

Don't know where you are in the world but in the UK the NHS doesn't say you have to wait 6 weeks, they specifically say there is no minimum amount of time to wait. I wonder if that's because the whole infection theory has been debunked

@Charley I had no idea till just now! Just googled it🤣
