Tongue tie

We have our little boys done Tuesday! Never bothered him till he hit 3 months then was chaos trying to feed! It was the quickest thing ever honestly took 2 seconds,.he didn't bleed much at all and gave a bottle straight away which they said they recommend & he took really well, when we got home I just gave him some Calpol as she said it could be a bit stingy so could make him grumpy. Overall he was absolutely fine & the improvement now is amazing! Hope it all goes okay 💖

We had it done, it was so quick, he cried obviously as it happened but he went straight onto boob after, he was absolutely fine! Just had to keep poking our tongue at him so he would copy us!

FTM for a 12 week old. Got tongue tie removed for baby when he was 11 days old. He cried for a few seconds but was fine after. Just had to keep nursing him often that day. He latches so much better now and is able to eat much better.

this is the exact same with my little girl! It’s got to the point where she’s getting frustrated during feeds by feeds and latching then stopping latching and feeds are taking 40 mins or so, it’s really worrying me. How did you get to the stage of having the procedure? I don’t know what I need to do now! Thank you x

yes same! Honestly a feed could easily take an hour & would be full of Paddy's because he just couldn't get on with it!

I spoke to our HV and she sent us to a NHS speech and language which then said because he was feeding okay at the time best to leave but because he was bottle fed and not breastfeeding they wouldn't do it! So we had to go private in the end! Which i.highly recommend as get seen much sooner to as if you can get it done on NHS the wait is a joke! Any one on tonguetie.org are certified & qualified to do the job! Xx

yeah I’ve been in two minds. One or two bottles a day she will drink it ok but the rest is a battle, we literally have to sit for so long to get her to feed. Did you find it was every single feed? She also has blister on her top lip which won’t go, it seems to have gotten worse these past few days I’m so worried!

yeah he was the same would be a nightmare one feed then next absolutely fine,.we changed milk and everything thinking that might help but In the end decided to just do it because he had it anyway..she said his tongue was very tight so couldn't wiggle it around much since it's been cut he loves moving his tongue 😅

I'm Oxford but I believe you just pop in your postcode & should come up with People that do it round you, if not if speak to the health visitor as you may be able to get done on NHS I know everywhere is different! Oh bless her I'd ring the doctors for that just to make sure or pop the HV a pic cxx

My LO has has to have it done twice as his reattached, which can happen in 4% of cases (lucky us!!) unfortunately he was never willing yo relearn to latch so it’s still not great, but definitely not has uncomfortable as it was before

Our lg was fine after hers. Cried for a milli second. Bit unsettled (a tiny tiny bit) when feeding for a feed days

he's been good tbf! Wednesday think he was just getting use to be able to cup his tongue more but he was taking all he's feeds & since then he has taken all his feeds still and a lot quicker to! Xxx

yeah same as us! I felt like we should of done sooner but only really bothered him lash couple of weeks! I was shocked he took the hole bottle while we were there afterwards! Was very pricey for the time it took but was worth every penny! Xxx

yeah it is pricey isn’t it! But like you say so worth it for their comfort and so they are feeding enough xx

We had absolutely no issues at all. It was a bit upsetting seeing him cry but straight after they told me to feed him and he hasn't had any issues since thank god. He now has a diamond shaped scar under his tongue though which freaks me out every time I see it😂

My first born had one and his doctor just cut it. Super fast. Didn’t even know what that was.

My daughter had hers done at 13 weeks, later than in most cases and this was due to us bottle feeding but her struggling with milk intake. I booked privately as I know in my area this isn’t funded by nhs if you are not breastfeeding. Procedure itself was quick, obviously hearing your baby scream in pain is not nice but she straightaway had a bottle. 3 days was awful, she was refusing bottles and screaming in pain but after 3 days it’s improved, she started to take milk more, was gaining weight and in general has been happy baby since
