Bilingual baby
Hi! Are there Nigerian mum (Yoruba) in Birmingham, UK, looking to raise their little one to speak Yoruba and English?
My girl is mixed race, 16 weeks and we go with one parent ,one language (OPOL) approch, I speak Yoruba to her and her dad speak English and I’ve been thinking what other way of to encourage her to speak Yoruba since she will be picking English up from her Dad side and when she start going to nursery.
I have an idea to get together once a week for a baby play class Yoruba Edition, what do you think?

That would be great I’m Yoruba, but my nephews are Yoruba, born & raised here, they only understand but still can’t speak the language and they’re grown now.
This sounds great! I am a Yoruba mum and dad is Jamaican. I have been teaching my little one Yoruba and her favorite song at the moment is a Yoruba song. Whatever you are thinking of, I’m interested 😊😊

My understanding of yoruba is a lot stronger than my speech but I still want to teach my son
Planning on doing the same with my little man. I'm English and his dad is Ghanaian, aiming for just the same approach. I suppose having time shaped for practicing speech or repeating terms is just as vital as hearing it. My partner's parents don't speak very good English so in order for my son to be able to talk to them he'll have to practice through conversation as often as possible.
