WHAT DO I DO ! My 4 week old has a cold which I also have because some silly person said they had hayfever instead of a cold !!!! Anyways I have been to the doctors yesterday they said it’s not a chesty virus but there’s nothing they can do !
She is struggling to sleep by herself , and she’s always amazing when it comes to sleeping in her cot !
Does anyone have any cures! Or old wives tails that truly work !

my little one is slightly congested, not full on cold but his older brother had a cold (consisting of cough and runny nose) when baby was 1 week old, and now at 2 weeks he’s been super congested. we’ve been using a saline nasal spray for his nose to try and clear up congestion and help when it comes to him feeding. don’t panic too much, i spoke to my health visitor before my newborn became ill just explaining his older brother is and is there anything i can do to stop my newborn getting ill but she said no unfortunately not, he’ll likely get slightly ill but it’s nothing to worry about, it’s a normal part of having a newborn when there’s already kids in the home who also attend nursery and things. nasal spray is from birth so safe to use, there’s baby vapour rub i’ve used in the past (calpol does these vapour refillable plug ins that are supposed to be really good). baby will likely be drinking more as well due to needing fluids etc xx

thank you so much ! Really reassuring ! X

Just get the boogies out and hydrate (my 2 week old is getting over the cold his sister brought home from school)

I would recommend using a humidifier, nasal spray, and chest rub. Let baby nurse/eat as often as needed, do skin to skin to help regulate their breathing and temperature. Keep baby close, and they’ll be just fine! Stay hydrated yourself as well, and eat if you can! Rest, rest, rest! Let baby sleep as much as they want!

My baby had a cold at 4 weeks too (she’s now 5 months) I was so worried as a FTM as it’s the first time she’d had any type of illness. I use saline spray which I would spray into both her nostrils when she’d sound most congested (usually night time and morning) and an electric nasal aspirator which I’d use about 15 minutes after doing the spray. She did take a good 2 weeks or so to get over it but doctors said it was normal and not much else can be done. Best of luck to you 🫶🏻

Sleep with onion on soles of feet !

Humidifier on in the bedroom, warm bath before bed and use the nasal aspirator through out day when needed.
