It's IMMEDIATE. & stops the cough & helps them sleep.. immediately. My daughters pediatrician told us to get this when she had the same issue- ear infections.
do you think it’s safe to wait for ped on Tuesday or should we go to hospital ? No fever no shortness of breath she’s eating peeing etc she just sneezing sounds congested and has a wet cough

Being CPR/ etc certified I don't see the need to rush to ER right now. Given she is eating, peeing wet diapers right? Is she playing during the day? Other than obviously tugging on her ear, NO FEVER? no. I'd wait till Tuesday & offer the above or similar that you prefer to use to help her sleep
You can also safely roll a recieving blanket under her crib mattress/ very small blanket or towel just to elevate enough so when she's dripping/ draining- it's not making her cough like you said all night making her cough now wet.
A wet cough is better than a barking cough & often they have to fight the virus on their own as well which gets a tiny bit worse before better. Is she coughing often? Is she sleeping through the coughing? I know it bothers us more but it may not really bother her. Unless like I said you think she may benefit from a little cough help until pedi visit.
Again given no fever, no change in daytime play energy no- she is absolutely fine mama

& same with eating drinking- she sounds fine without me physically seeing lol 😆 they / we all get worse at night, how long has she been on antibiotics?
what’s the difference between barking cough and wet cough? And yes she plays during the day everything else is normal besides the cough 😷
she’s been on amoxicillin since Monday night !

I would cut back on milk while sick, she needs more water & even watered down juice for electrolytes etc. (Powerade if US based) will all help her right now. Milk can make the cough worse so offer more green veggies mixed in her fave foods 😋
It’s her first time having a wet cough so got me anxious for my baby 🥲😅
ooo okay didn’t know this good to know thank you ! She does makes kind of weird noises but not wheezing tho id say more like because she’s congested

Aww no its okay mama. Been there done that especially working in a certified large center.
That is concerning she's been on amox. Since Monday & the cough you say is wet sounding.
However this could be breaking up finally/ the virus/ infection could honestly be clearing out & by doing that it needs to leave the body. She may be draining lol, physically fluid / mucous etc.
Look up- Croup cough/ barking seal cough
Productive cough is okay & I'll say first hand a child/ us we can have a cough in general for 6 weeks! After being sick!! It's crazy lol
But no, I wouldn't personally rush my child out to ER for this given-
She's playing mama lol, she's absolutely happy and fine/ wrestling/ playful during the day!
-eating & drinking no issues
- only coughing when laying down soooo beyond normal lol 😆 don't feel silly. It's scary. Especially FTM xo

I assure there would be much more alarming signs than just the sound of her cough alone ❤️ it's much worse for us to hear them than it is for their tiny bodies to fight off the virus

Yes when sick want to really cut back on dairy bc it congests 😉❤️
why is it concerning for the cough and being on amox ?
yes right now she’s more cranky /crying /coughing sneezing but the crying is from her being exhausted probably because she was fine all day

Just concerning in the medicine may not be working/ resistant/ a slight allergy. I'm highly allergic to ammoxicillan & my own, it wound up being a double ear infection because at the followup thank God 10 days from initial visit, proved that bc it went now to both ears the amoxicillan did absolutely nothing for my daughter.
The doctor said it's likely where I'm very allergic she may be allergic but the signs were different/ medicine ineffective. Either way mine can't do amoxicillan since. My allergy was very known bc I was 2 years old & felt weird but couldn't say that, said "Mama.." projectile vomited coming home & taking that antibiotic, hives & anaphylaxis rushing me to the ER. VS my daughter there were virtually no signs of adverse affects besides it didn't stop the infection/ infection spread to double ear while on it.
But again with other factors of milk, it tends to make their cough frothy/ wet. & given she started Monday, its Friday she should be getting better not worse.
A barking cough/ wheeze

Is much worse, a wet productive is okay if she's fine otherwise. Have you taken a qtip just to see in the entrance of her ears if wiggling them, pull down, does anything come out? Or does rubbing her ears- like we do when we take a shower and clean our ears or put our pinky in to wiggle to help ourselves- does this help her?

The best course with a new cough on antibiotics is to see if the cough gets better in 2-3 days, given child doesn't have a fever. A. You aren't wasting time rushing to an ER
B. Seeing their doctor is always better where ER can often miss things that a regular primary will know to watch for/ look for.
It could be- infection is clearing out now & it has to leave through a wet cough is common for ear infection
Could be mucous/ post nasal from the infection breaking up
Could be a side effect of the antibiotics
Could be normal if gone day 2/3
But worse case it is a new infection/ worsening however again your doctor would tell you to monitor from home if toddler is absolutely fine besides night sleep.
Night time Is always the worst when sick. & sometimes the body just needs time to get it out especially if it's only at night/ it isn't wet during the day/ no change in play/ no fever/ no change in appetite or fluid intake plenty of wet diapers etc.
I just wouldn't personally rush to an ER given it's

Only happening laying down, when all fluids/ mucous, post nasal will cause this to happen in general. I'd much rather see the doctor than ER if it can be avoided or see ER during the day if symptoms are during the day, otherwise you'll bring them & ER will treat us like we are crazy just to see our pedi & pedi will go umm no lol 🤣❤️

considering it's spread to her lungs, the ear infection could be viral in which case antibiotics wouldn't work. a wet cough = a productive cough (helping to clear infection I believe). I'm no doctor, but considering she has no other more concerning symptoms, it sounds like you can wait. keep giving clear fluids.
yeah she fell asleep only at midnight woke up at 6 😫 coughing sitting and laying down

Poor baby 😢 so she woke 2 times overnight? Yeah just keep a close eye on her today. Now that it's daytime it's much easier to visit ER if needed VS overnight. But like she stated above it could honestly be the infection leaving her body making a wet cough bc it's broken up now & has to come out 1 way or another lol whether that's snot or post nasal drip unfortunately & horrible when they lay down ofcourse bc it drips to their throat.
Hoping your girl is good & has a much better night tonight, & again if she's completely fine playing hard, able to wrestle/ rough play, normal energy, no lethargy, eating and drinking no issue I wouldn't suspect it's getting worse at all

If she has the wet cough during the day you could consider seeing ER as she's been on amoxicillan now since Monday, I will say ER might give you annoyed expressions lol just bc if she doesn't have a fever or any other symptoms than the cough they tend to make fun of us for that
Like oh I'm sorry my toddler isn't a banana peel on the floor for me to bring her in for a nasty cough when she should be better by now lol

Try zarbees chest rub put on chest back and on soles of feet with some socks. Also at night try slicing a garlic and put some on soles of feet just don’t put it directly on the skin try double socks 🧦 . The garlic will draw out the infection or virus. For boogies I would try zarbees soothing saline mist. It does wonders for us and we dont have to keep cleaning up their nose and get it irritated. And boogie wipes! Highly recommend. Give lots of oranges if they like them they have a lot of vitamin c. And mandarins/cuties. And zarbees carries cough syrup as well and helps with flem. I’ve also heard chamomile tea is good for flem if they sound like they have a wet cough they have flem. Warm showers put some vapor rub in the water or around somewhere so the warm fumes can unclog their breathing passage and can breathe better. Just another worried momma hope I could help.🫶🏻❤️
Thank you guys yeah she woke up few times and ended up co sleeping at midnight with my mattress on floor lol she’s coughing and sneezing but the snot is coming out a lot from nose so it’s probably her cold virus coming out

Also it could be allergies. Since it’s allergies season? Not sure just speaking from personal experience. My little one is 14 months old and we were prescribed loratadine. It’s a children’s Claritin. Speak with her doctor about it. It could be that as well since amoxicillin isn’t working?
amoxicillin was for her ear infection

Omg YAYYYY MAMA! okay the mucous is leaving her body that's exactly what you wanna see ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

You can use tissue or toilet paper, twist it a bit, insert in her nose, twist slow and pull down out away from nostril if you think she needs help getting the snot out, it's a miracle help & way better than the bulb or any device it literally grabs the mucous & pulls it all out 🤢🤣

Similar but with pediatric/ child you can put in their nose a bit, twist & pull down while twisting & it has saved us every single time! My husband's grandma did this for him when he was little lol
