Congestion in 8 week old

Our little one has been the same, apparently it is common for C section babies, did you have a c section by any chance? We bought a small temperature and humidity monitor of Amazon and I have noticed a correlation with low humidity and him being congested. It may be worth getting one to see what the humidity is like in the room he is sleeping in x

My nearly 11week old is the same,been pretty much congested since birth. Did u have a c section? Apparently c section babies are more congested as they've been pulled out n not pushed out but shouldn't really go on this long should it? I give my boy saline spray n most of the time he sneezes after n big bogies come out. I think I'm gonna ring gp

no I didn’t I had a vaginal delivery, thanks though I’ll take a look at one of those monitors!!! X

so strange isn’t it! No I had a vaginal birth, my daughter was a C-section though and I remember she was congested but only for about 4 weeks I think….
I’m so surprised he’s still congested, I think I’m going to ask pharmacist for advice today and maybe take to GP next week x

Yes reflux can cause congestion! The nose essentially is trying to combat the upchucks I guess. They’ll either grow out of it or there might be a cause of reflux (for example a CMPA can also give babes constant congestion, we had this with our first. She also had a posterior tongue tie that wasn’t diagnosed until too late which wouldn’t have helped).

Then I guess don’t give up on saline spray, an ENT once told us that if everybody used regularly he’d be out of a job!

ah thank you so much for the advice, I’ll take a look at the account and keep going with the spray (I stopped for a bit as I thought it was a bit useless!) I haven’t got out postnatal check for another 2 weeks as that’s the earliest they could get us in so I’ve been holding off waiting until then to get him checked out x

Out of interest have you had him checked for tongue tie? It can be quite subtle. Also 8 weeks is also what some people call a “leap” in development and they can be more fussy generally. Honestly it’s such a guessing game at this age!

You could also message your health visitor for advice xx

Hey - my baby is 8 weeks and is the exact same! It keeps her (and us) up at night as it can be so bad. We have tried EVERYTHING and spray and snot suck about 10 times a day lol. We have also got a humidifier in the bedroom, have propped the back of her next to me crib up so she’s not completely flat, and put her in the bathroom when we shower to let the steam help. I have been to the drs 3 times (I’m paranoid lol) but they told me some babies can just be like this and it can literally last months🥲🥲🥲 My HV doesn’t seem to think it’s down to reflux or a milk allergy so think I just have to accept the fact it’s just a cold😞 It’s so tough not being able to help them isn’t it! no I haven’t! I might look into it… my partners just been to see the pharmacist and they’ve given us some infant gaviscon to see if that helps! It absolutely is just a guessing game though 😂x

Worth a try! Although do keep an eye on nappies as it’s VERY common for gaviscon to give them constipation which makes them even more unsettled, this happened to us with our first! We had to stop almost immediately xx
